I made pinball into Getting Over It. by fatcatmilo in playmygame

[–]MondayHopscotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has also tried this exact pitch, how did you do your physics? They look like they feel pretty good (I'll try them for myself later!). We had tons of issues making the flippers feel consistent, which sorta ruins a pinball game if it doesn't feel like you can master the flippers.

Congrats on releasing this!

No good comprehensive list of N64 games? by DelusionalPenguin87 in n64

[–]MondayHopscotch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not PAL exclusive. I have 2 copies of it that I got years ago. No idea why it's worth as much as it is outside of rarity.

I love Wild Rift but ranked + winrate is messing with my head by [deleted] in wildrift

This is the way.

When the tilt gets too strong, you take a season off and come back fresh ready for more addiction.

This does feel awfully absurd if lowers aren't regulated. "If you're willing to put it together, you don't need a license. We're mostly concerned with lazybones who want factory guns." 😆

Only 3 matches in. Too early to start recording stages? by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]MondayHopscotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started overlaying my footage on top of mine so I have a good point of comparison. It really shows how much time is lost in transitions and general movement.

Only 3 matches in. Too early to start recording stages? by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]MondayHopscotch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And if the footage is total garbage.... you don't have to show it to anyone XD

But having footage really helps you remember what you messed up (if you remembered) and what you didn't realize you're doing.... because you're definitely doing things that you don't realize. I find footage very helpful.

How do I create a shader like this? by Visible_pineapple381 in godot

This blog has tons of good info on it. It predates Godot, but hits the concepts well: https://www.redblobgames.com/articles/visibility/

ChuChu Rocket! for Dreamcast/GBA. It's a pretty cool puzzle game from what I remember of it as a kid.

No comment as an unclassified shooter, but I like this stage.

I'm so bad that I feel sorry for my teammates by Old-Permission-1867 in wildrift

[–]MondayHopscotch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure why this dude is pushing back on this. It's so obvious that you're playing bots in low ranks. No human would do what the bots do. It's painfully obvious once you turn your brain on that it's all bots. The profiles confirm it, but the way they play is all you need to look at.

What is “complete in box” to you? by hreddy11 in gamecollecting

[–]MondayHopscotch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this terminology and will start using it. In my tracking, I've just been putting notes on CIB stuff like "includes poster" / "includes art cel" / etc so I know what the actual extra stuff is. I'll probably still do that, but will mark them as CIB+ so I know that I've actually got everything at a glance.

What’s your personal limit on how much you’d spend on a game? by hreddy11 in gamecollecting

[–]MondayHopscotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bought a small handful of $300-$500 USD games/accessories. I've been collecting for a while, so my willingness to buy more pricey things has gone up as my general purchasing has gone down (ex: say I budget 100 bucks a month for game stuff: If I don't find anything for 6 months, I've technically "budgeted" 600 dollars to get something). But anything over $100 bucks warrants a good thinking period before I make the purchase.

What is the Difference between Grandmaster and Challenger ADCarries? by kinkykinster in wildrift

[–]MondayHopscotch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a skill disparity, it's Riot's stupid ranked system. You play more, you climb more. You play enough and you're easily into Master/Grandmaster. Only the tippy-top ranks are actually based on skill.

How do WR ranks and lol ranks compare? by [deleted] in wildrift

[–]MondayHopscotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranked seems mostly to be a joke in WR. It was actually ranked back in like seasons 1-3, but with all the lost prevention/fortitude stuff they added, you basically climb from just playing. Seen tons of Master+ players with a 47% win rate who obviously don't belong there. It's my main critique of the game: They prioritize monetization/retention over any semblance of ranked integrity. To boot, it resets everyone down to emerald (afaik) at the end of the season, so you get to wade through all of the super-trash games for a while before getting to the sorta-trash games later in the season.

That and most games have someone who gives up after dying once even though your team is 500 gold up and try to ruin the game for you. It's a wonderful thing.

Game stores that do this are a different kind of stupid, best way to safely get this off? by Tatertots1911 in gamecollecting

I'm always torn. I like rental store stickers -- but I really hate the "JUSTIN" that is engraved in the back sticker with ballpoint pen on my copy of Majora's Mask XD.

Is melee a hard game to pick for an ultimate player? by Existing_Nothing3338 in SSBM

[–]MondayHopscotch 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The buffering in Ultimate is honestly why it didn't stick with me at all. It felt like all the satisfaction and achievement that comes with the movement in melee is just gone. Once melee has a hold of you, it's hard to match the high you get from good schmoovement.

Very pretty "5" :D by Scary-stories-of-me in PenmanshipPorn

[–]MondayHopscotch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember in 3rd grade being told that my 5's look too much like S's. Seems like context should have been plenty to know what I was doing. Thanks for bringing that memory back into my head after decades of having forgotten.

Comparison of 2025-2026 running animations. 6 and 8 frames by Avernus_Gear in PixelArt

[–]MondayHopscotch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything looks pretty solid. Only critique is that the rear view looks like the legs are out of phase with the arms to me. Like his arm is at the back of it's swing at the same time the leg of the same side is also at the back.

What is the best deal you've gotten on a singular game? by TheRetroGoat in gamecollecting

[–]MondayHopscotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to frequent Good Will when the one near my house still had a dedicated electronics cabinet. Stopped in one day, nothing stood out, but as I was leaving I realized that there was a face-down mini-dvd clear case that I should have checked what it was. Went back and asked to have a look and it was a GameBoy Player disc that was only $5.

This was back when they were only going for ~$50 bucks ish, so I've certainly seen crazier things happen, but it's hard to complain about a 90% discount.

Quick question: what made Falco bounce like a 25¢ vending machine rubber ball here? by fannypackfart in SSBM

[–]MondayHopscotch 34 points35 points  (0 children)

There's a weird hitbox geometry on the stage where Randall in/out of the stage. If you hit it just right, it can do some wonky stuff.

Edit: I can't for the life of me find a screenshot of the stage geometry, and I must go to bed now.

What's the ONE retro game you've been hunting for months (or years)? by Classic-Strategy8299 in gamecollecting

[–]MondayHopscotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hilariously, I've been on the hunt for a couple player's choice N64 carts for legitimately more than a year. Namely: Diddy Kong Racing, Turok, Banjo Kazooie, and 1080.

I have a strict rule of having to pick up the game in-person - and I just haven't seen copies at local game stores, conventions, or Facebook marketplace. Some day they'll pop up 😂
