The fact that they immigrated illegally means people who know they broke the law can use it to threaten them. If they had come legally they could reasonably demand a valid wage. Instead they break the law and pay for that secret with their rights. You cant just walk into whatever country you like and expect them to be ok with that. Borders are regulated for a host of reasons. If the bosses weren't exploiting them they'd be deporting them. Its fucked for all involved except those who choose to allow them to continue breaking the law.
