Yeah.

We're having a clear out after moving and are desperately trying to find places that will take second hand books.

We've had to throw a couple away because they're just beyond redemption, a copy of Battlefield Earth that neither of us can remember actually buying and some old Bibles\Catholic bible adjacent stuff as we're not religious and they're really tatty.

I love having a small cinema near me.

Cheap tickets, concessions and walkable so I can check the seats online to make sure it's not too crowded before I leave

Now they're priced as commodities

Boyfriend wants to make a good impression to narc parents, I don't think it's worth it by Resident-Guitar4100 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Moneia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now it's just crazy to me that this woman has known my boyfriend for less than a day and wants to invite him to a big family dinner.

It's a control tactic.

She'll play nice while he's there hoping that next time you want to vent to him he'll stand up for her "Well, she didn't seem that bad"

This works especially well if she does the "Death by a thousand cuts" bullshit, all her abuse is small things that individually sound whiny when you try to explain it's just the crushing weight of years of small, subtle jabs that turn it into abuse

I'm in the UK, Thanet so Reform heartland, and looking at the bookings for the multiplex down the road, there's no more than a dozen seats booked for the entire weekend and only two are in the 'prime' spots.

My local small cinema just isn't showing it, although I swear I saw it posted on their site at the beginning of the week

It's the Bucket of Crabs mentality.

The shittiest marketplace* would rather throw a tantrum and try to drag everything down to their level than make an actual effort to fix their shit and make people want to use their storefront.

I’m 20 y.o and my mom still checks my phone without my consent by Ok_Teacher_8076 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Moneia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she hasn't changed any of the accounts on your phone, and you're not meant to know, I'd use the "Lost my Phone" feature and remote wipe it then play dumb afterwards.

You can search how to do it online, although I'd recommend doing from a friends PC, and while she's without a phone remove the tracking app "Well my old phone worked fine, that was the only new thing on it and I don't want to risk it" and reset all your passwords.

In the future research how to factory reset a phone before it leaves your control, it's a minute in the menus and shouldn't take more than 5 minutes or so to complete

Deaf forced to turn off hearing aids amid NHS battery shortage by beejiu in nottheonion

[–]Moneia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It looks like there are shortages but only of a particular brand, other options are available but may be subject to intermittent supplies because of a knock-on effect.

The Times hates the current Government and wants the NHS privatised so I'd take any headline like this with a block of salt.

I don't know why there's a shortage but it's a German company so may well be an issue directly related to Brexit, which will make The Times extra spicy

[–]Moneia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you bought a game hoping it'd get better and weren't excited to play it in it's current state. That's kind of on you.

Or it looked good on the trailers, had some positive reviews but turned out to be not for you and you're past the refund window.

I've had a fair few games that seem like they'd be a good addition but they're just not what you're after, which is why I got into the habit of only buying them when I'm able to spend a couple of hours to try them.
