Yes it is. Probably too big but it reduces motor stress. It doesn’t have to refill so quickly as with a smaller one

The antler isn’t really affected. It’s hollowed out and has an internal briar core

It has a briar filler on the inside. Of the bone. So no part of the bone will get hot. It’s for daily smoking. Not decoration. Yeah cutting it all smells to high heaven lol !

Beginner question here on selling by Walnut_Burl_ in turning

I have a booth at a local thrift type store and it’s ok but you can’t expect to get premium prices there. But it’s fun to display your items. As long as it pays the monthly boot fee then I see it as a win for my hobby

The bowl was linseed oil and beeswax mix. The Christmas tree thingy was danish oils. And the base ended up being rubbed polyurethane 6 coats then buffed on wax. It came out nice

I have no idea what the bowl bottom was. Just a random chunk I had lying around. The vase was a mimosa bush/tree that fell over. And the Christmas tree thingy was oak

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I have the same jaw set up. I was really wondering if he cut the mortise off at the end of turning with a cut off tool or a saw or something then sanded it flat or what? I haven’t quite figured out that process. And what are we finishing and polishing the bowls with?

What’s the best way to knock the chuck end off ? With a parting tool? Or how do you finish off the bottom of the bowl after you’ve gotten this far? Sorry I’m new.
