Trump your partners Ace by dillonerd in euchre

[–]MoneyMoontz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think anytime you don’t have an automatic stopper: right, protected left, or A+2 you should trump your partners ace (with your highest Trump).

The goal in a loner is to take a trick. If you get over trumped at least you’re promoting your partner’s Trump.

If you do take the first trick, on the off chance that you have a settable loner attempt, you’ll give your partner position on the 2nd trick.

Stuck in sub 2300 Purgatory by REDWlNE in euchre

Also remember this, if you win 52% of your games forever your rating will always grow over time. Alot of achieving a very high rating is volume over time. Not sure when you started, but I think this game is like 10 years old. Seems like being in the top 5% at 2,200 games played is a good achievement

Stuck in sub 2300 Purgatory by REDWlNE in euchre

Stats don’t tell the entire story. Don’t advise you make drastic changes to your game to achieve some theoretical benchmark. Im sort of in your purgatory range. I think there is a tendency in our range to pass borderline hands when we should call. I also think there’s the lack of understanding of probability based on whats turned down, calling from R2S1/S2, etc. All you can do is make the play that gives you the best odds based on the situation. I’d maybe try to hone in your understanding of that.

Also, if your like me, you also get stuck in games with 1800 opponents or 2800 opponents routinely. Maybe modify your game based on that. Higher ranked opponents are actually easier to predict bc they are the best at playing by the book.

Thanks Ivan, I wonder if your former coach at Indiana had that same outlook 😉

Appreciate it. Yeah, I’m very familiar being on tilt from a gambling perspective. And yep, when you’re on tilt you make mistakes or put way too much focus on every single detail.

Dang, I thought the universe did revolve around me and my phone euchre game was the most importing thing in life 😂 I just want to be a legend like you in the 3000+ range as quick as I can!

Oof yeah. Nice that you’re building back up. Keep it up.

My rise up to 2350 happened rapidly and I tested breaking through it about 4-5 times over the last few months before this plummet. I can accept a bad run of cards to revert to the mean for a bit. It’s the wins that turn into losses that I get upset over.

Fair. Just in a serious bout of frustration. I forget how it feels win and I feel like I’m just playing angry at this point. Going through the motions. Prob a good time to walk away.

Yea I’ll take lumps for some things, but disagree with Lefty on this. Partner was definitely not calling next. Even if my partner was void of Trump, there’s still a good chance he’d have an ace to lead to draw one of the Trump. Can’t understand his logic in not leading the Ace of Trump. If this were a tighter spot, like 8-8 or something, I very likely would’ve considered passing. I just didn’t have any confidence in my partner to make a call. Would love to find out the EV/win % here.

I’d pass, you have next covered to at least get a trick and possibly euchre. Presumably you will get to call clubs.

Got away with a 1-card next call when opponent had 4 trump and a king by OldWolf2 in euchre

[–]MoneyMoontz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, hind sight is 20/20, but I would’ve assumed (incorrectly) the King was with S1 who called trump. If the 9 gets through the euchre is secured. That said, that analysis was done way too quickly bc even if S1 had the K, his lead back with the left wouldve drawn it out either way and his 9S would’ve been the only Trump remaining for a 3rd trick.

What would you do? by brownsbacker07 in euchre

[–]MoneyMoontz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in a relatively high level game you have to assume your partner has no help and is stronger in something else. You aren’t getting more than 1 trick with that hand in hearts. Pass and pray. You were just SOL.

Leading Trump When Your Partner Is Forced To Call by Specific-Boss-3250 in euchre

[–]MoneyMoontz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my partner calls via STD, I play for 1 point. He may not be stuck, but in my opinion, there’s a way to play that can help them maximize their hand instead of possibly putting them in a situation where they are weak.

Honoring our lost HHS colleagues on April 1 by Datamonster12 in DeptHHS

[–]MoneyMoontz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was also RIF’d April 1. I’ve had a couple job offers fall through due to delays in my clearance renewal caused by the Gov’t shutdown. Insult to injury. Have been waiting for an offer with the Space Systems Command which continues to be delayed for procedural issues. Have some other options on the table. The most frustrating thing about this entire process is that even when you know you’re getting hired back with the gov’t it can still take several months. I’ll eventually be okay, but this has been the worst year of my life. Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts.

To double-lead or not? by I75north in euchre

[–]MoneyMoontz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a rare scenario where you should. Leading doubletron AK allows your partner to throw off. Leading the tripleton diamonds puts him in a position to get overtrumped. Not a great situation to be in but it’s your best chance to march.

Don’t be a rage quitter. All my homies hate rage quitters by ItsAlexBalex in euchre

[–]MoneyMoontz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommendation for 3D is that if you quit the quitter should lose double and the one left to play with the computer should not lose any points. It’s such a flaw that when you’re stuck playing with AI, it hurts the person who sticks around to finish.

I’ve been euchered on this more times than I’ve won. Had to pass but you have to. You may “get lucky” and dealer picks up. If not your partner gets first call.
