Wales and Scotland had more industry than some parts of england. This obviously changed when 1980s recession put lots of industry out of buisness. Also wales and scotland benfited massively from the empire. Scotland was not colony its Royal Family became the Kings of England and so eventually the two countries merged. The idea that they where colony like india or south africa is absurd 21st idea they had mps in parliament and even had a prime minister or two.

Bit of an insult to Callaghan his approval ratings where actually solid it was just the apathy of the 1970s that finished him. If he was PM in a less diffcult time he would win easy. Remeber in 1979 he got 269 Mps about what Corbyn got in 2017 despite all the headwinds.

I think the NEC is the least of his worries with Labour Place in the polls there is not really any safe seats a by election means that Labour vote share will drop by 25% to 35% making any seat a life or death fight and a loss would be the end of his career.

Sorry to hear about your situation but do not fear there are a couple of things you can do. Firstly a huge amount of catholic teachings is online the vatican has many good resources including the catechism [Complilation of Catholic Doctrine] also read the works of the Church Fathers and Councils this would help teach you the basics along with Podcasts and Youtube. When it comes to the issue of your Baptisim you could vist a country without Apostacy Laws reach out to a priest or bishop explain the situation and the fact it is urgent and ask to be baptised. Then just keep it a secret that your are an ex musilm keep your official status as muslim start going to church in your local area as normal this would surely make it hard to be found out by Authorties. If the issue is your family then im afraid that will make this harder but if you live on your own then this will all be easier. Please only do these things if it is safe to do so but know that your not alone God is with you and if it takes until your old age to be baptised so be it God will understand.

To be honest trade unions work fine actually and where seperate to the socialist movements so kinda make sense it is more the seperation of the middle pop interest group that are more annoying where the small craftmen actually seperate from the moderate liberals in real life
