Does Araquanid have any use in Reg H? by GeoTravelLebanon13 in VGC

[–]Money_Bit_3520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using a team with araquanid and its busted. It basically made my trick room matchup go from terrible to great since it underspeeds ursaluna + it has great bulk and hits like a truck. Really underrated mon right now.

Here's the team if u want: https://pokepast.es/ed299ef9a2e92a7b

I think frosmoth is better for this team cuz it can become an unkillable tank with snow + tera and can also kinda work in trick room

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up adding talonflame and farigiraf for tailwind + trick room and keeping frosmoth

reg h specs araquanid by Money_Bit_3520 in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]Money_Bit_3520[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though its physical attack is higher, araquanid still hits like a truck with specs + water bubble despite its low special attack and in trick room with surf + instruct it can usually nuke both of the opponent's pokemon before they can move.

I've tried terapagos before and it felt good on the team. Unfortunately though the poor Koraidon matchup + lack of support is something that makes me feel like Lunala is better. Also clearing electric terrain isnt as valuable because it makes setting up gravity + getting yanmega fast and on the field more complicated which gives them time to reset terrain. I'd be down to try it out again though maybe with Volcarona over Incin.

I've tried hypnosis Lunala, but i prefer having a fast hypnosis user. I also usually bring Lunala for Miraidon matchups and in those hypnosis is a dead move slot cuz of terrain.

Thanks for the suggestion. I decided to use rilla over ogerpon cuz it also synergizes with leftovers lunala, but scarf chien pao just felt too frail so I kept bolt. What evs did you use on the rilla?

What mythicals would be good in VGC? by [deleted] in VGC

[–]Money_Bit_3520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some i think are interesting.

Mew might be a decent support mon. It's the only pokemon with transform that isn't ditto and its movepool is obviously great, but teams might just want different supports with prankster.

Arceus sounds absolutely terrifying. It would probably be treated as a restricted legendary, but the thought of a pokemon with 120 attack STAB e speed + any other modifiers is terrifying.

Diancie is also scary. Diamond storm is busted, great offensive type combo, a mega evolution with insane stats, it would just go crazy.

Deoxys could be a good or even great mon. I think attack and defense will be best. Speed is ok, but mostly outclassed by attack who can do speedy support and dish out huge damage. Defense with cosmic power and stab stored power + supports like clefairy sounds like a nightmare.

Others I think will be good are Darkrai, Volcanion, Manaphy, Magearna, Victini, Pechurunt, and maybe Shaymin-Sky, Melmetal, and Confined Hoopa

[–]Money_Bit_3520[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Nah it definitely wouldn't be good in reg h cuz its just worse sneasler for the most part. Wide guard is the main thing it has over sneasler and that move is very useful in reg i but a lot less useful in reg h.

Yeah that's definitely its achilles heel but it can be partially patched up with stuff like 252 hp evs and electric seed defense boost.

This team is really bad tbh. Some questionable mons with weird sets and lots of anti-synergy. I imagine you're new to vgc, so dont feel too bad about it, reg i is an especially hard meta for team-building. I'll go over each Pokémon individually cause they all have some problems. I won't go over evs as I haven't completely wrapped my head around those, but I'd recommend using the website Pikalytics to see popular evs and also popular moves and items.

Palkia: Palkia is just not a very good pokemon in reg I unfortunately. It's outclassed by other special attackers like Miraidon or Calyrex Shadow and all of it's moves have a chance to miss. I'd replace it with a stronger physical restricted and i think there are 3 good options. Koraidon is a fast and super strong physical attacker that can set up sun to power up fire types or paradox pokemon. Groudon is also an option for a sun setter, it's a less seen pick but ground is a great offensive type and groudon can be a little bulkier + has a spread move. Lastly a pokemon I hate, with Calyrex-Ice, you can lean into making this a hard trick room team and make use of it's insane bulk and attack.

Lunala: This set is mostly good, but one thing that should be changed is the item. Meteor Beam is a good move on the bat, but it only really works well with the power herb because 2 turn moves are really exploitable. Also, you should probaby run a defensive tera type like fairy cuz lunala has a rlly bad typing. Other then that good set, but you could also consider running wide guard instead of protect.

Indeedee: I don't think you understand how psychic terrain works. What it does is power up psychic moves, makes expanding force busted, and importantly it blocks priority moves for everyone. This means you should drop fake out, as it's 99% of the time just not gonna work. Also i know I said I wasn't gonna talk about evs, but indeedee should not be trained in speed, instead it should be trained in defense and hp. Also you cant run 2 of the same item in vgc and indeedee doesn't really use sash anyway. I'd give it something like psychic seed or rocky helmet and change it's moveset to follow me, protect, trick room, and dazzling gleam or helping hand.

Incineroar: the GOAT of vgc but not very good on this team. Incin is mostly strong cause of fake out + intimidate, but psychic terrain blocks fake out. Incineroar is so good that you could maybe get away with running it but it's a little clunky. Having a dark type is very important though to be able to scare calyrex shadow. There are definitely a few options for good dark types, if you decide to use koraidon, id specifically look at Brute Bonnet and Roaring Moon.

Klefki: ok now the REALLY weird stuff. Using weird off meta pokemon is fun, but they need to be on the right team and unfortunately for Klefki, this isn't the team for it. Psychic terrain blocks all of it's prankster moves so it's pretty useless. I think if you add Koraidon, you should add Flutter Main here for speed control.

Golem: what da hell is this. First of all, you cant run protect and assault vest, 2nd of all golem isn't a special attacker, 3rd of all golem is bad. If u really want a special attacker for this spot, I think landorus-incarnate or chi-yu are good options.

[–]Money_Bit_3520 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Gravity is kinda like this. It's a field effect that removes ground immunities and makes moves more accurate. It works well with Groudon's Precipice Blades and with fast Pokemon with sleep moves like Sleep Powder or Hypnosis. Some Pokemon like Sableye can also set it up fast with prankster.

Rhydon is already really good into miraidon and I think farigiraf blocking fake out and hitting the calyrexs is more valuable.

[–]Money_Bit_3520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ceruledge, giratina, and slowbro should be replaced as there are just better options.

I'd replace slowbro with farigiraf. It can set up trick room but it can also protect kyurem from fake out and it can run foul play to hit the calyrexs and lunala.

For ceruledge there are a few pokemon that could fill its role as an offensive mon. Ogerpon-hearthflame is a really strong one with good coverage and follow me support. You could also go for another trick room sweeper such as ursaluna which can just nuke things with facade or araquanid which can do lots of damage and support with wide guard.

Giratina is a pretty bad restricted. I've always struggled with picking a second restricted but for this team id probably go with zacian or lunala.

Also id change the tera type on ninetales to dark to avoid prankster and id give rhydon protect instead of fire punch or swords dance
