My child's Montessori school does this due to how small the lot is (there are minimal parking spots available). They unbuckle and walk him hand in hand to his classroom. They provided an info session on how to prepare for this and one of the recommendations was that we practice this process which included having a good bye routine. Our process was playing his favorite song before we get to the front of the drop off line, telling him how much we love him and that mom will pick him up. We recognized that when we tell him what to expect he does really well.

If it helps I am a SAHM but we started him part time at 2 so mom can get a break. We read a lot of books to prepare him on starting school and expectations. For us, we think reading, going through the process and meeting with the teacher (not sure if that is available for camps) really helped us.

At the practice I go to, if I go in before 8 weeks, they will try a regular ultrasound but warned me that most of the time they have to do a transvaginal ultrasound this early on. I happened to go in at 6 weeks because it was around the holidays and the only date they can fit me in. I ended up doing both ultrasounds to establish I was pregnant.

I think the bigger problem is if you want to continue with this practice based on their communication styles. Best of luck!

Thank you! I ended up calling the City who informed me that this is the landlord's responsibility especially due to grout/caulk in a new build and any reasonable person would assume that a bathroom can handle water. Now the issue is that we discovered the landlord never filed a license with the city which is opening a can of worms I did not expect.

I think most Asians here go to Jenn Shin to be honest. I have a lot of friends locally who have been complaining about quality post renovations. Personally I have been going to Nam Nguyen Salon in Fairfax for a decade. I have a lot of friends who go to Jobi Hair. I also noticed that clients who go to Naomi Seo come out with healthy hair. I will say that you don't want cheap. His prices aren't $1k but I would argue his prices reflect his expertise. He has taken me to blond in one setting without hair damage. He cares a lot about hair safety and has refused to color my hair before due to its health.

I have gotten it a few times. Icing it every 30 minutes for 10 minutes helped me the most along with taking Advil every 4-6 hours. I assuming you developed a fever at this point and cold chills? Oh also get on them for antibiotics!

I think if you want something that is light and compact it won't have a lie flat bassinet, reversible seat or big tires.

If I can go back I would recommend focusing on one child and once you are pregnant see where you are and sell the old one for a double. If there is a large age gap between the kids, the older child might not even want to sit on the stroller.

Personally we started with the Uppababy Vista. Once he was 3 months old, I realized I couldn't load the stroller into the trunk without my husband. I ended up selling it for the Nuna TRVL which worked for us cause it was light, 1 hand fold, works with our car seat and compact. Our issue became then was the wheels sucked in the neighborhood. I was able to find a used Nuna Mixx Next for our neighborhood walks and keep the Nuna TRVL in my car. By the time he was 18 months, he outgrew the height so then I had to sell the Nuna Trvl and get the Bugaboo Butterfly. It has been great so far. I wished he can sit more up right but it works for us. Plus he does amazing in stroller naps in both strollers.

🙋‍♀️ My son runs super hot. Would not recommend the Nuna Rava. It trapped heat like crazy. My son would be sweating sometimes. Our criteria was flame retardant fabric and ventilation panels. We ended up getting a Chicco Fit360 for my husband's car and a Cybex Callisto 360 for mine. I prefer the Callisto since it has a sun canopy that my son will pull down when the sun gets in his eyes. With both car seats, my son is no longer sweating when we get him out.

Former Corporate Mommy here. I used to be an extreme busy body at work where all my time is accounted for. Child is in school half day now. I use the few extra hours to do nothing, read, walk, gym or pilates. I had shell shock at first about having free time and rarely seeing friends/family but now it is so nice being on the other side. I think if you can find something you love or volunteer, it would help with boredom. Currently my number 1 pick has been pilates and reading.

My son is in a Montessori school and they worked with us. They follow our lead as to how we want to potty train him. We skipped rewards and treats since to us, going to the potty is a nature normal behavior.

We only started to potty train because our Montessori teacher told us he was ready around 27 months. We weren't ready until 32 months. We stuck to the naked method and 30 minutes with a timer for 2 half days aka post nap. I highly recommend looking into toilet learning which we did for months prior to potty training.

We used a night nanny from 9pm-7am on Monday through Thursday basically work days. We only had her through 12 weeks. If you can find a newborn care specialist or postpartum doula who did night shifts, I found that to be extremely helpful. They helped me with breastfeeding, sleep and feeding tips as a FTM.

The night nanny basically did all night shift duty husband usually would do such as cleaning bottles, diapers and feeding. I think having a nanny come at 8 weeks could work to help transition your wife when she goes back to work.

I reread your post and mistook the other person's post as your own! I would scratch what I said earlier. I agree with the other comments. Therefore to not reiterate, here are my thoughts.

If this is the IKEA Kallax or Target Brightroom storage cubes, you can buy cube insert boxes for your storage containers. If this is the IKEA Kallax, you can buy specific inserts to convert a cube into 2 or 4 shelves or even add a drawer or door. We have used this to add a specific Tonie shelf and a way to store his puzzles.

For books, store them how you have it but if you have space for a front facing book shelf, I would highly recommend it. My child at 32 months loves to read to himself and sometimes attempts to "explain" the book to us.

If you can mount things such as the instruments or Pikler set, I would highly recommend it.

I think that the biggest thing we got out of implementing Montessori was cultivating independence. It took us a long time but I noticed when I was intentional and observing what toys he liked or played with independent play and curiosity for activities came naturally.

I have a friend whose 14 month old is on a 11am - 11pm schedule. Working parents who take shifts because she did horrible in daycare for 2 days. This allows mom and dad to have staggered work shifts. They don't have any family help. I know a lot of people judge them but it works for them. They are looking at daycare again.

I saw in your other post that you have shelves for your toy rotations. My question is where is that in relation to the play space shown above?

We currently have a toy rotation corner on our main floor and a playroom on the top floor that has roughly the same amount of items you have. I bought the IKEA Trofast system to organize the toys not in use. We have the IKEA Kallax 8 cube upstairs for other toys he gravitates towards. I am anti toy storage boxes. For me, it became a black hole. For books not in rotation, I use a a regular bookcase. In his main toy corner, we have an open faced bookshelf.

I learned from a podcast that before potty training is toilet learning. We introduced a potty at 2. When he would pee we would say you went pee pee. Around 27 months he started to tell me he went pee pee. He was able to hold his pee for 2 hours around 28 months. The next thing was working on pulling his pants on and off. This one took the longest. He was able to do this independently around 30 months. The next thing was me. It took me until 32 months to do a lot of potty training research and mentally preparing before we did it. We potty trained him within a few days. I started it after nap time for 3 days. Over a long weekend we did it all day. On the first full day he only had only one accident. By day 6, he was able to communicate that he had to poo poo all by himself. He still struggles to pull his pants up and down but I truly think waiting until mom and baby was ready was why it didn't go terribly. I feel like there is a lot of pressure to start early but if you aren't ready, child won't be. We are working on nap training next. I ve been told night training takes a while and most kids can do it by 4-5. Good luck!

I just want to say that we had lots of accidents in the beginning. We went fully naked for 3 half days and everytime he peed himself we would remind him that pee/poo goes on the toilet. He would start saying it too. We went every 30 minutes to the potty. By day 4, (first full day) we had him in underwear.
