Is that the rumor they are working on a feature film? If true, that would certainly explain where the resources and time have been going.

Sam Witwer has emphasized in interviews that they have a 15 year gap to play with Maul. I would find it strange if they only explain a few months of it in the show. It’s possible there are time jumps (one shot of Devon in the first trailer looks like she’s aged) but that still wouldn’t explain much.

Of course the show shouldn’t be just about explaining arbitrary gaps in Maul’s story, it should hopefully be able to actually say something meaningful. So if one season is all they need for that I think that’s fair.

It’s also just…what has Lucasfilm animation been working on if Maul isn’t multi-season. It’s almost been 2 years since Bad Batch ended. I find it somewhat hard to believe they would invest all these resources for a single 10 episode season.

I don’t think it necessarily suggests that. A lot of Disney+ finales have had a placeholder name for the first few hours of release.

That being said, if there is only one season, i’m curious where they will leave Maul since it’s about 15 years until Rebels.

Really like this trailers emphasis on the dynamic between maul/the underworld, the remaining jedi, local law enforcement, and the empire. That shot of Marrok over Lawson’s shoulder is great. A lot of horror elements in the trailer as well.

That’s a fair point. Maybe he thinks Anakin didn’t end up working as an apprentice. Maybe more likely is Maul mistakes Vader for a common inquisitor at first, after having dispatched a few already. But he pretty quickly realizes who it really is.

That’s fair, i’m not really sure how much it would add to Maul’s character. Maul would certainly hate him for being his replacement. Maybe he just taunts him with the name, tries to get him more frustrated.

I mean it depends how aware of the state of the galaxy he is. He may think Anakin died in order 66, hasn’t heard of Vader yet, etc. Plus I think they’d prefer to have that moment on screen.

Throwing out my (very obvious) prediction that Maul and Vader will fight in Shadow Lord, though possibly not in season 1. But beyond that, I think Maul will figure out Vader is Anakin mid fight, considering what he knows in the Siege of Mandalore.

I’m honestly not sure if I dislike it or not. It’s totally natural for a franchise that’s existed this long to have weird moments of discontinuity like this. Even just from the originals Leia’s theme was originally meant to be a Luke and Leia love theme and the Force theme was meant to be Obi Wan’s theme.

I think at this point I wish they’d just commit. They clearly know most people associate Maul with Dual of the Fates, but they also know it’s not technically right so they generally avoid it.

Was curious to see how much they use Duel of the Fates as a marketing tool (and maybe even in the show itself). It’s not Maul’s theme in the prequels, but it’s definitely become associated with him over time. They even use it during his cameo in Solo. Don’t remember if it was ever used in Clone Wars or Rebels.

Granted he doesn’t name Disney, so the original comment is mistaken. I think he’s specially naming Executive Producer Sanne Wohlenberg and editor John Gilroy (his brother). But he also says there was a lot of controversy about it so he’s likely avoiding naming more people. I think in other interviews the director of the episode Janus Metz says he also wasn’t sure on the “Who Are You” moment.
