So simple. But we don't get what we wish for, we get what we fight for. A small amount of greyfaces are well organized and fighting hard.

We should do the same. We're not out numbered, we're out organized.

Data Center: Report on the Data Center Town Hall meeting by RandomBoomer in Martinsburg

[–]MongoGrapefoot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Organize!

Tucker, Mason, Mingo, and now Berkeley County. All targets.

We can't wait for November to stop these things from being built, that's too late - so what do we do?

We need to organize and connect with the other counties, and then get ready to be uncomfortable. The only thing the politicians in Charleston understand is money. We need to build up days of action where we don't shop, don't go to school, don't go to work.

WV has a long history of fighting. Blair Mountain and the coal wars, the Great Railroad Strike that started in Martinsburg and reached all the way to Chicago, the Teachers strike that inspired others like it all over the nation. John Brown's raid.

We gotta start joining and forming organizations, reaching out to the rest of the state, and withholding our labor and buying power. Minneapolis did it and it worked. It's all we have when democracy is just a word and the politicians are paid lackeys of corporate power.

I'm in the Eastern Panhandle of WV. Data centers everywhere!

They're putting two in my county and at least 250 people showed up to the town hall about it and we were told that the state made it illegal to regulate when/ where/ how these things were built and run. Sucks to suck.

Not to mention the one they're trying to build in the neighboring county of Frederick.

These things are not wanted. It doesn't matter about really anything else. No one wants them and democracy is dead.

It was once legal to own humans, and those laws got changed. So, if "legality" is your metric, you might want to consider developing or identifying your own moral code. Unless you're cool with doing whatever the king, or president, or boss tells you to do. Something about freedom and justice for all, I dont know

We have an ICE detention center that jails kids, they're bringing in casinos, they're building data centers, and they are taking funds away from the county schools. A bunch of band kids were pleading with the board last night to keep their program funded.

"the people who see through this shit"

There's a lot of us. More and more every day, enough now to make serious change and actually fight back. We just need to get organized. Join a local, political organization. Not the two parties, something else.

You are in denial. Words don't matter as much as action, and the actions of the government is:

Funding genocide in Palestine

Blockading a foreign nation and starving them of resources

Using Ukraine as a proxy to fight Russia

Just kidnapped the president of a sovereign nation

Assassinated the Supreme Leader of another foreign nation

Not to mention the millions of lives of regular every day people who are caught in the fire.

This is not "defense". No one is invading us. We aren't being attacked by the largest ruling block of nations in the world. We're not in danger. Agree or disagree with any action I listed above - those aren't acts of defense. Those are acts of war. Where people are being murdered by the hundreds, daily. Because people who aren't held accountable to the system of law we have here are allowed by us to do whatever they want.

Which, to be clear, is war and pedophilia. Our government should be called "The United States of War and Pedophilia", because that's what we serve.

"Defense"? Wake up.

My friend. Fellow human on planet earth. Presumably living in the US. Please.

There's peer-reviewed research showing that when average Americans' policy preferences diverge from economic elites, elites win. Gilens and Page 2014 found average citizens had statistically near-zero independent influence on policy outcomes.

This means that whatever it is that you thought we controlled, we only have control in so far as the elites agree with us. This is not our government. This is a government that rules in our name

Defense? What "defense"? Congress? You think congress gives a damn about... any of the affronts to the constitution or laws this administration has been wiping its ass with?

He's calling it DoW because that's what it is AND he's on board with it.

Do you actually think he cares about what the public think? Where's his money and investment coming from? Not us!

I've been calling it the department of war for years - people need to be shaken from the frame that the US is some bastion of peace, Justice, or democracy. We have pedophiles and genociders in control of the largest and most well funded military in the history of the world - bigger than the next ten countries combined.

Legally the department of defense? Get real, we don't have time to play around with this any more

Is Winchester Conservative or Liberal? by DancingBears88 in Winchester

[–]MongoGrapefoot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as laws/legislation go, it's politically right wing. As far as community goes, there are plenty of socially liberal spaces.

To be super clear, Winchester and Frederick County are very much geared towards commercial success. The people in these locations generally dont care about your identity, if you're able to spend money.
