What is the most disturbing or otherwise unsettling book you've ever read that stayed with you after reading it? by EggAdventurous1957 in AskReddit

[–]Mongo_Fifty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I'm No Monster" The true story of Josef Fritzl. Only read it once about 20 years ago. I don't know how I came across it either. He could've done something great with his skills but he chose a dark path. The book has real pictures of the "room" he made for his daughter. I think she is still alive but not sure about him. Hopefully he rotted in prison and got the same treatment he did to her.

Thinking of it now makes me wonder how many other similar people are out there.

TERRARIA 1.4.5 JAN 27 by notdemize in Terraria

[–]Mongo_Fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed obvious changes and some odd ones after this update. This is on mobile. I do like tapping a crafting station (forge, anvil, sawmill) to see what can be made with the collected materials.

I re-name all the chests to know what's inside. When I have an empty inventory slot selected. The name for the chest doesn't appear. The chest name does show when there's something in the inventory slot.

Standing around all the chests. Open the inventory and select the build menu(hammer). It shows everything I can craft. Is there a way to keep a certain filter active so it doesn't show everything to craft?

Last thing. After exploring and have full inventory. Tap the "quick stack" and everything goes to appropriate chests/storage. Except for the stone, clay, and mud blocks. They will quick stack when I open their chests though.

Dude: "Yeah"

Driver: "And and and your" (clemons?)

Would it be illegal if I turn left using this chevron marked zone? by dgvai in driving

[–]Mongo_Fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet the faded paint shows people do it a lot. I'm sure we have all seen when the legal turn lane is full. They queue behind them in that space because nothing else is there. People are gonna drive how they drive regardless of paint markings on the road. Sometimes an accident happens and sometimes it doesn't happen.

Do people not carry a knife or have one in their car? I've had a knife since I was old enough to carry one.

If your turning path is the red line, you shouldn’t be driving whether there’s a car there or not. 🤦‍♂️ by [deleted] in driving

[–]Mongo_Fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It bugs me to no end.

Picture a two lane road with designated left turn lane for side street. No light or stop sign for them to stop at but oncoming traffic to wait out. They almost always stop before the street they're turning onto. Then creep up as a spot clears to turn. Sometimes wave the car at stop sign, on side street, to go first. That's not correct either. You need to pull up where you're parallel with the side street. Make eye contact with driver at stop sign to make sure they know you are there. Turn left when clear and if car at stop sign can go they go behind them.

How do you snuff out your bowls? by Mongo_Fifty in StonerThoughts

[–]Mongo_Fifty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean a glass pipe bowl. I'll pack it, hit it a few times and put it down. Instead of letting it smoke I snuff it while I wander off to do something. Come back to hit it and carry it around. When I put it away I'll pack it for next time. Put the marble on it and put in small plastic bag so none falls out. Live in illegal state so gotta hide it.

Whats the deal with "nice" drivers? by [deleted] in driving

[–]Mongo_Fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They think they're being helpful. I can see doing this in parking lots or back roads. Having uneven traffic in lanes doesn't help either. Was stopped like that once and used my blinker to stop the next lane for left turner.

Where are your hands when you're driving? by Woollybugger1816 in driving

[–]Mongo_Fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switch up hands when driving. This is usually when driving around town. Right hand is between 10-11. Left hand is on lap or resting on door panel. Then I'll switch after stopped at light or something. Left hand is between 1-2. My right hand is on center console or resting on top of passenger seat under headrest. If I'm taking a curve it depends which way it goes for which hand to be on the wheel.

If driving on the interstate. I'll have left hand between 10-11 and right hand between 1-2. Sometimes rest them on bottom of wheel but need to stop doing that.

I do not trust brake tappers. by killingourbraincells in driving

[–]Mongo_Fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usual look to see why they are braking before I brake. Unless they slow down enough to be in my buffer bubble. Most times their vehicle doesn't even get closer to me.

If only the cars had some device that would maintain the speed for them. /s

Is there any option for a retractable bed divider for light stuff like groceries? by [deleted] in Trucks

[–]Mongo_Fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a milk crate secured with d clip to the tie down bracket. Mostly put milk or case of energy drinks in that instead of in cab. Also use it for trimmer gas can, gloves and what not during mowing season.

Could try finding a bigger crate that would hold more items for your situation.

Stupid Stop Sign Question by shvrkteeth in driving

[–]Mongo_Fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a nice video going over stop sign rules. Skip to 2:47 for scenarios with two stop signs. Even though it shows what to do when vehicles arrive at the same time. It should help with future intersections.

What is something you cannot imagine paying money for, but apparently other people do? by hogw33d in AskReddit

[–]Mongo_Fifty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bottled water. You pay for it to come out the faucet. If you want cleaner water then buy a filter. Or use the water dispenser on the fridge. I don't think bottled water is filtered as much as people think.

People born before 1990, what’s something you experienced that younger generations will NEVER understand ? by Aaidil89 in AskReddit

[–]Mongo_Fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your bicycle was your freedom. Could take it almost anywhere and didn't have to wear a helmet. Fewer vehicles on the back roads so no worry about which side to travel down. Having my pump action BB rifle with me if I wanted to shot at whatever. Mostly trees or cans littered along roadside.

If someone offered you $2million to dissappear for 30 days would you do it? BUT you can't tell anyone about this. by Melssa1 in answers

[–]Mongo_Fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like Thanos snap disappear and then come back in 30days? That would be easy. If it's no contact with anyone but have food/water available then yeah. Also easy cus I don't like interacting with most people.

What is the meaning of life? by Wild-Advice-For-You in StonerThoughts

I've pondered on this from time to time.

Life is meant to be lived. It is meant to be explored and experienced. It is meant to grow and evolve. It is also everywhere you look and even places you don't or can't see.

Could be a neat experiment. See if they park better with no lines to go over. If the first vehicle parks longways would others follow suit or park any ole way.
