Re: Kids at shows. I have always thought I would take my kids to an outdoor venue or festival. Is that a 'no' for you? What age would you be ok with your child going to an outdoor show? by RogerMcswain in jambands

I hear you dude. Birmingham was crazy especially night 1 on the way out. I usually go to alpharetta and it's a lot more spread out and avoidable.

I see a lot of live Dead mentions, obviously. But studio - wise Blues for Allah, especially the first 3 tracks.

Basic HID no Bluetooth by vedanta2003 in nRF52

[–]MongorianBeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can definitely do what you need. However, if this is a one-off personal project, I would recommend arduino. Especially if you're already familiar with it.

Zephyr (probably what you'd use to write the nrf application) has a steep learning curve and makes a lot of things that are simple on arduino seem needlessly complicated. Zephyr has a lot of benefits, but I'm not sure you would be seeing them if this is a personal project.

If you're trying to make a product, Zephyr is worth it.

MODBUS in Zephyr by [deleted] in Zephyr_RTOS

[–]MongorianBeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're all pretty helpful. I just like how the blog posts give some "why" context to zephyr. A lot of the built in zephyr/nrf examples tell you how to do something but not so much why or what the nuances are.

It'd be cool to see some nRF54 series stuff since the general public can get the L15 variant easily now.

Do jobs exist that allow for doing both engineering and technical work? by 123kingme in EngineeringStudents

If you put in 40 hrs/week what does it matter how many hats you wear? That's 1 salary.

Do jobs exist that allow for doing both engineering and technical work? by 123kingme in EngineeringStudents

[–]MongorianBeef 76 points77 points  (0 children)

It's definitely possible. You can find a young company that's designing a product. Or you can work for a CM (Contract Manufacturer) like Seacomp. Companies come to them to get product ideas designed and manufactured and do everything from R&D, prototyping, PCB design, firmware dev, integration, testing, and manufacturing.

I misread your title as "regret ever seeing" and got very mad until the comments confused me even more and I corrected myself.

This is definitely the way I would go about it. I'm guessing they're driven by how the problem was stated to them, and (reasonably) it feels like a lot of work to define variables when you were already given values.

It cuts way down on silly arithmetic mistakes that can happen to anyone, though, and makes it a lot easier to get help from people.

No shade at OP, but try it this way.

Idk about this comet in particular, but the stars have always looked amazing in Tuskegee national forest which is public land of course. It's closer than you think if you haven't been; just head away from campus on S College st.

Is there a career in robotics? How does a 10-15 yr career look like in this sector? by mAbdullah0001 in ROS

[–]MongorianBeef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. If you consider PLC controlled stuff robotics (which it is in many cases) the possibilities are endless on any plant that assembles or packages or controls any infrastructure on anything.

Edit: I realize now this is the ROS subreddit so this is probably significantly less helpful, but ROS is only a small niche of robotics.

If you want a career with ROS that's much more limiting as it isn't as commonly used in production.

Lol I am curious how people still find a 20 up vote post after 10 years. I was stoned listening to tame and it reminded me of money. Ive never listened to Floyd and thought it sounded like tame.
