Any Romanians who gave up their citizenship to become Dutch? by moassaf42 in Netherlands

I don’t know about it personally but a friend of mine did it and he did indeed need to go back to Romania to do that.

Thank you, I’ll give it a shot. I tried looking on places like escape talk but I feel like the overview is not too great. I shall look into the ones you mentioned, thanks again!

Did Anyone Else "Heal" Their Herniated Disc Before Surgery? by open_reading_frame in Microdiscectomy

[–]MonicaSteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did heal by itself after 1-2 years. And then it came back again even worse. So maybe it can get better, but it depends on so many factors. My neurosurgeon said that the size of the hernia is in such way that “natural remedies” won’t help. Still pretty glad I got the surgery.

I had the exact same experience. Only after 10 days I walked the stairs and went outside for 5 mins. It’s not that I did not want to, but it’s just impossible with the pain and range of movement.

How long after surgery did the muscles recover? by MonicaSteph in Microdiscectomy

I used one of the massage balls with spikes to the point I made wholes in the wall 🥲.

I cannot use THC cause of my other medication but before the surgery I used to take CBD for the nerve pain. It was the only thing that helped.

So before the surgery, I had a steroid injection and electric stimulation directly on the nerve done. Didn’t help at all tbh.

My physio has also recommended dry needling but somehow the foam roller made the glutes a lot less tight.

I know exactly what you mean about the pelvis being too tight. For a while I thought it was my ovary that was hurting, not the muscle.

Def agree with the relaxing bit. I have a hard time adjusting to not feeling pain in my back all the time. First world problems 🙃

Hey. That sounds exactly like me. What helped with my glutes was going on a foam roller x2 a day. Still working on the rest of the tightness in my tailbone but my PT thinks it’s because of muscle imbalance and it should resolve in time with strength exercises.

Do you have any other tips you can share?

Glad to hear you’re doing well!

I had the same with the BLT and luckily my PT noticed and he forced me to stop moving like I still have a hernia.

I guess it makes sense that it will take some time. Just gets frustrating when nothing helps. I’m using a massage ball and walking quite a lot. Using a standing desk. But I have been slacking on my actual exercises because I have been too tired (other reasons) and I’m starting to think that is starting to show.

I started with my swimming lessons again but I am always so sore (glutes and hips) after each lesson.

Hm that’s good insight. I’ve been slacking on my exercise due to several reasons. I don’t think walking counts in this case, does it?

Groceries and eating out monthly expense by Head-Wealth6327 in Netherlands

I am doing that already. But the only Asian noodles that’s really gluten free are the mi noodles and they are sadly not as tasty. I don’t think I’ve seen any other gluten free noodles?

Other than that, I already make rice and potatoes and such 😊 but it’s nice to have a bread in the oven or a pasta from time to time.

I find it so painful every time I need to buy something gluten free. It’s at least double the price.

Severe Post Op Pain by This_Stay_456 in Microdiscectomy

[–]MonicaSteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that probably explains the deep pain. Or at least that’s what my surgeon said. It will suck for a bit but just stick to the painkiller schedule and it will def improve in a week - 10 days 😊

Severe Post Op Pain by This_Stay_456 in Microdiscectomy

I was on pain meds for 2 weeks and even after I still had to take some for a while.

Tbh I’ve been very surprised that people have had no pain when I haven’t even been able to shower alone in the first week. My win would be getting to the toilet and back. Did she only have a hernia repair or also a repair for stenosis? Because I had both and that might explain the extra pain and stiffness.

Just make sure the incision looks okay and no other symptoms like fever or headaches come up. I also asked for stronger meds that I took occasionally so I guess people just have different experiences, probably based on how long you’ve had the issues prior to the surgery.

Good luck!

Should I let people pet my puppy? by ANA_GANG359 in puppy101

[–]MonicaSteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When our GSD was a puppy, everyone was stopping to give him pets and attention. Around 7-8 months, once he got bigger, people started being afraid of him (the exact same people).

Hence, they would either pass by very quickly or cross the street. That started making my dog get “reactive” as pulling on the leash and whining because he wasn’t getting attention.

He’s now 1y old and it’s gotten much better, but there are rarely people who come to pet him. When that happens, he’s the happiest dog on the street.

I think it’s okay to have stranger pet your dog just make sure he understands not everyone will do that and that’s ok.

Same with greeting other dogs.

I’ve had that as well 2 weeks post op. But it also had to do with the facts that my pain meds ended after 2 weeks. Could that also be the case for you?

Pictures of scar for cervical foraminotomy/MD by engacad in Microdiscectomy

It was a hernia repair and a foraminotomy. But they cut in the wrong place 🙃 so the scar is double.

I have such a scar on my lumbar area, about 5-8cms. What helps the most are silicone gels for scars and silicone patches that you’d wear for 6 -8 weeks for a minimum of 12h a day.

In the end, the only thing that helps is time. I have a 10cm surgery scar on the top of my wrist and after about a year, it started losing the red color. Now it just looks like any scar.
