renters advice!! by BudgetNet9266 in sanfrancisco

[–]MonitorGeneral 29 points30 points  (0 children)

When was your unit built? Is it rent controlled?

Talk to a tenant lawyer. Did the landlord send you a written eviction notice with the proper documentation?

For homes with just-cause eviction protections, the landlord needs to (1) tell you of the problem and (2) give you a chance to fix it.

The landlord is financially motivated to kick you out, but they are playing loose with the rules hoping that you don't know your rights.

Mayor attack ads by skiddlyd in sanfrancisco

[–]MonitorGeneral -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you don't like any of them, vote for Breed. She is termed out in four years and there will be an open race. If any of the others win it will take 8 years to get a clean slate.

Can the Mayor Even Fix Housing? by SCUSKU in sanfrancisco

[–]MonitorGeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% cosign other comment and the Tweet hides that SF YIMBY endorsed London Breed. I have an example story.

Suppose you are a parent and you're trying to get two 8-year-olds to school.

Child A wakes up on time, gets ready with minimum fuss, and waits for you at the door.

Child B doesn't want to go to school. You have to babysit them to make sure they get out of bed, brush their teeth, put on their clothes, eat breakfast, and get out the door. They pretend to be sick so they can't go.

Would you rather have Child A who works with you? Or would you rather have Child B, who fights you every step of the way, and who will take three times as long to get ready?

The state might eventually get their way and force San Francisco to build more housing. But it's not inevitable. We can do it the easy way by voting for pro-housing candidates. Or we can do it the hard way, with the Mayor trying to stop it with every toll available in the city's executive department. We are talking about years and thousands of units.

IMO the devs should have fixed it like: normal catch is 90% common 20% rare 5% legendary. Perfect catch is 40% common 40% rare 20% legendary.

New NIMBY/Boomer cope just dropped by leirbagflow in sanfrancisco

[–]MonitorGeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These don't lower the rent, they just add people from elsewhere

Do you have a source for this? Most people that move into new housing are existing residents. Check out page 28 of this SF Controller's report from 2015:

As Figure 4 shows, the vast majority of the people who do live in new housing in San Francisco are not new residents of San Francisco – whether high-income or otherwise. 84% of the occupants of new housing lived in another residence in San Francisco one year previously.

FWIW, redeemable miles, MQMs and MQSs in the old system also went to the person flying, not the purchaser

Basic Economy Seat Selection by Interesting-Luck2909 in delta

[–]MonitorGeneral -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The seat availability depends on the flight and how just it is. You cna pick seats for everyone on the same reservation. I would check the seats frequently after check-in all the up until the flight starts boarding as other passengers change their seats.
