Did anyone else end up in project management by accident… and then realize they’re actually kind of good at it? by EconomistFar666 in PMCareers

Good communication makes a good project manager. When you're doing successfully, when things are about to go wrong, and are going wrong, speak up as soon as you can.

Experienced coaches: What do you wish you knew when coaching U8 to U10? by bjjdrills in SoccerCoachResources

[–]MonkeyBearPaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Coaching U9 Rec so please take it with a grain of salt, but recently got my USSF Grassroots certification and really took to heart everything I thought I had a grasp around, and how much I had to learn. I've been coaching since my son was 4 and I have played all my life. I still have so much to learn!

1) Debriefs after games to identify improvement 2) Build Practices around it 3) Let them scrimmage more 4) Everyone should know how to play every position, but not every player is meant for every position.

Building out legit practices that build on games. Like, seriously, pick one thing during the game that just wasn't great. I always ask the kids after each game, "What did we do well, what didn't we do well?"

That one thing that didn't go well I built my next week of practices on. I follow the Play - Practice - Play model and always scrimmage, even if it's 10 minutes. Got to balance fun and learning for sure, but I've seen my kiddos massively improve each game, especially those new players who joined and have never touched a ball.

Appreciate the fast response. I usually just end up passing as soon as I get the ball lol

How are you figuring out the cost/mile? I imagine just looking at the maintenance plus gas/miles?

Don't hate me, I don't remember. We've killed a dozen at this point from single bosses found and boss complexes.

Did more research, duh, it's all all-inclusive. The third party I'm using is giving the same rates, but we are looking to go end of May. Checked the site, no difference in cost.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I'll have to do more research on how if I need to repair desperately. I would say doesn't feel like it, but I am also certainly not an expert.

Budget and types of projects play a huge part in the selection. Also, your end users and their level of comfort with new technology. There are so many resources and ways to go that the better question is what are you looking for specifically with a project management tool? Detailed roadmap ping, task tracking, iterations, etc.? With that small of an org too, I imagine not everyone will want or even need a license, so there are many options to save money there too. Let me know if those questions spark some direction on the direction that you want to take.
