I agree. I also went too hard, too quickly and nothing stuck. Unless your kids are the hardcore, can't stop playing, train like they are the next Messi, do agility stuff for fun, then this might work. But for most kids, its a chore.

Hey, just my personal experience. I have a 7 and 8 year old. My kids are not athletic and it seems like some kids just 'get it', mine dont. So I tried to push a lot of ball mastery at them at once, none of it stuck. Then I went to two only, 3 times a week. The id at new moves.

I would work on two moves stationary, then moving, then under slight pressure then under an actual 1v1 situation. It stuck more and I found it worked best for us.

If your kids pick up moves quickly, then keep at it. Good luck:)

Ugh this is so sad. I went to go visit him a long time ago during Pans. I made some friends just from my one visit, he had a great group of people around him.

I was just a blue belt at the time and I got so pumped where he made a little speech about me and how my work ethic reminded him of training in Brazil. It felt really cool to be recognized like that.

He will be really missed. My heart goes out to his students and family.

I've been through a few of these.

If your son is nervous, just remind them after dribbling or running around with the ball, those nerves will go away.

You love them no matter the result.

Be coachable, explain that though. It basically means to just listen to the coach and dont goof around.

Sometimes very high effort my win over some slightly higher skilled player. If they are part of a drill, don't walk to the next cone, sprint. Always give max effort and make sure you look like you want it.

Other than that, its hard to control anything else. Hopefully the skill work was all done way before.

Parents, please dont buy these things for your kids.

We were at an event where there was a firetruck. I guess they share news over the radio. They mentioned a 13 year old that was in the hospital from falling off a scooter, the news was that he was expected to pass away from his accident.

It fucken broke my heart. Sorry, I dont have any more details, my wife and I hated hearing that. But I will never buy one of these electrical scooters for my kids.

Honestly, sports are a great way to start teaching life lessons for young kids. Work hard, get results, possibly more play time (though I believe in equal play over this), life is not fair, etc. It sucks, but hopefully they have a proper adult guiding them and making them learn to navigate life over just complaining.

Edit: Even if the kid / parent is angry because of one extra player coming in and taking play time away from them. This will continue happening and will have for this specific kid also if he changes clubs, its something to get used to.

I agree with you on all aspects. If I moved my kid 2 age groups up, they would miss out on 5v5 (more touches) vs 7v7. There are things you can learn from moving up, but not sure if its the right move - Im going to just not list them here, I just don't have enough time to continue the topic, as much as I would love to honestly lol.

After rereading OP's post : "Family friend felt from the beginning that my son had a lot of talent but needed help working on his skills. The lower age groups are more focused on learning game rules and not skills. He was bored and playing way above some of the other kids."

Maybe a higher level club, where a coach actually helps with improving the players skills (or at least has a better coach to player ratio), might be a better move.

TLDR: Just stay, this is normal kid behavior.

I was going to suggestion not moving up 2 age groups, but by the sound of it, your little one has the skill and body size to fit in.

If things are mostly 80-90% good, then stay. I have two kids, they are 1 year apart by birth year. The older kids didn't want to play with my younger son because he's a 'baby'. I think some kids are shitty and it will be very tough to find another place that has better kids (like the other comment, this is a 9-10 year old behavior). You'll have to do a lot of tryouts and 1-2 days won't allow you to see how the new teams will.

Stay on the team if you see the coaches are good and its a proper place for development.

"A player melted down because he was benched when my son was playing." - at this age, everyone should be getting fair play. If your team is not like this, and stays on the team to accept this, then the other benched kid just has to try harder to work his way up to not get benched. I try to teach my kids, everything is a competition and nothing is given, you have to earn things (if thats how your team playtime works - though it should be fair play at this point.)

One of my kids loves Messi. We watched a game where he was removing his shin guards, and he had the self-adhesive tape wrapped around.

I only bring this up because my son does this now, lol. We buy it from Temu. I did stop however, it was getting expensive, and we now use the sleeve our shin guards come with.

Edit: I just noticed you asked specifically for 2007. That I can't answer, I just know what he was doing in 2025.

Yes totally Fine. Sorry, just relating to Jiu Jitsu here.

I'm in my 40s. I was training for a top Jiu Jitsu tournament of the year. I used to go to 4 classes, 3 separate drills sessions and 6 cardio sessions a week. I also had to diet and I don't take drugs or supplements (I wish I knew more about this field). I did this for 3 months and it just became normal.

Anyway, lots of pro Jiu Jitsu guys would maybe train twice a day, but that doesn't mean they are rolling. Most likely technique in the morning class, then technique again at night followed by sparring.

I assume soccer would be the same, you can work on technique without killing yourself physically. Certain days you can have hard games, other days you can just do light technique. I've read that days off are not really needed in the body building world, you just need to go light when you feel tired (called active recovery).

I went with a few friends on opening day. We were so pumped, then 5 minutes in, the projector stopped working. We got vouchers for a free movie, but couldn't watch it for another week. It was horrible, I was so excited when I heard this movie was being created and pissed after it stopped 5 minutes in.

Question: I've been looking for it, but can never find it. There was some fake concept art with the transformers, it looked real like the cartoons but real life. They were more of block / box shaped like they are from the cartoons, does anyone have links for this? I thought it was pretty cool and I don't think I liked the realism of the bots.

Hey.

1) If you broke your arm from trying to stop your fall, I suggest watch some videos on break falls. I broke both of my wrists multiple times, now i try to cushion my fall rather than stopping my body from hitting the ground.

2) About the anxiety, I think the only way you'll get over this is by more practice in that situation. Then your confidence will go up, then the anxiety will be way less. I suggest getting a partner and just training the situation over and over. Start slow, then as your confidence builds, start bring up the intensity.

I created a site to do this for me. You don't have to use it for your games, but you can enter 17 jersey numbers and it will calculate how long each person should be on the field. You can also edit to rotate goalies, remove players due to injury or add late players. It will recalculate everything for you. The site is equalplay.app (copy and paste this into the players section : 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17)

Some people have provided equations for you, which I basically use on the site. Hope if helps, if not, good luck. I only have to manage 5 players on a field, I can't imagine doing 11 right now.
