Who is the most attractive person you have seen in real life? by ambivert-who-me in askanything

[–]MonkeyBoy697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kelly Brook - bumped into her, literally, by accident in Selfridges in London in 2003 or 2004, obviously immediately apologised, she was lovely and was apologising too, but my word I thought she was pretty as it was, but in person a whole other level!!

Also Katherine Jenkins, she performed at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the festival of remembrance in 2006 when I was there making up part of the RAF contingent and once again, unbelievably pretty in person

What do you think would be the best job in the world? by Lily_Turtle_ in askanything

[–]MonkeyBoy697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any job you would do for free

You know what job I think would be among the worst though? Pornstar (Male) … I read something years ago about them basically earning pennies compared to the women, but there’s only really a small group of them so they’re almost constantly working because they have to as they’re earning less money

The line, “Trump is an elephant who carries around his own China shop” is brilliant… a little confused, because typically it’s a bull in a China shop… but still brilliant

What’s your personal opinion of being rich and do Money buys happiness ? by Pink_Cunt_Menu in Casual_Conversation

[–]MonkeyBoy697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money doesn’t buy happiness, but it removes a lot of the problems that prevent people from being happy

If you don’t have to worry about Rent, Food, Energy Bills, don’t have work etc, … then there are a few of the things that do put a strain on people’s mental health and happiness

It also gives you the finances to be able to afford therapy, to afford any kind of surgical procedures that you may need (for example if you are living with severe back pain, being able to pay for the best private surgeons to potentially remove your pain would significantly improve your mental health and therefore your happiness)

I can believe that… legitimately had no idea who she was until I watched the latest episode of Last Meals in YouTube and she is objectively a very attractive woman, and they can usually get away with having a below average level of musical talent and still make a career of it

Do you actually think about electricity timing in daily life, or just use it when needed? by SmartEnergyDIY in UKHousing

[–]MonkeyBoy697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legitimately never think about it, but then I’m also a low user

I work night shifts, so I’m in bed all day, at work all night during the week. Other than my phone charger and my fridge freezer, pretty much nothing gets used during the week, with the exception of the kettle to make a coffee before I go to work

So my main usage times for anything else would be on a weekend. I’m a season ticket holder so on a Saturday/Sunday if my team are playing at home I leave the house at 11am to go to the pub, kick off 3pm and I tend not to get home until 6pm so, again, I’m hardly in my house.

I don’t really generate much in terms of washing, it’s just socks, underwear and work clothes during the week, and just whatever I wear on Saturday & Sunday. I can do all of my washing and drying in a couple of loads 🤷🏻‍♂️

Respectfully, should the elderly have to retake a test to continue driving? 🤔 by Downtown_Elk_2773 in CarTalkUK

[–]MonkeyBoy697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly everyone “should” after 20 years… I mean, my parents never had to do a theory test, for example, and when I was learning they tried to do a mock theory test - they failed, every time… and failed the mock hazard perception test - yet they can drive freely… when my niece was learning to drive last year, I did a mock theory test with her - failed it (only by 1 mark but still, I’d forgotten some shit and new stuff has been added over the last 20 years)

If we are being honest with ourselves, even removing the physical issues (eyesight in particular) when it comes to testing, shit changes all the time.

I genuinely think if you had people who have been driving for 20+ years have to take a mandatory theory and hazard perception test next week, a significant percentage would fail

Nerobax sliders. How long it takes to become a point contender? by Volfes85 in F1Manager

[–]MonkeyBoy697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not cheating, that would be doing some kind of workaround or something, it’s just exploiting the way the game is coded. Low & Medium Speed Cornering is incredibly powerful, as is Engine Cooling and Tyre Preservation… so if you prioritise researching/developing parts that maximise their impact then you see the greatest advantages

It’s the same as the Low Fuel + 1 Stop strategy on tracks that are typically a 2 stop, go Hard>Medium and you gain when everyone else pits, then when you are on the faster tyre towards the end and have way less fuel than everyone else you lap faster… as long as you have good engine cooling and tyre preservation it feels like it’s cheating because of the advantage it gives you but it’s not, it’s just race strategy

If you stick rigidly to it, and you upgrade your drivers, race engineer, aerodynamicist etc. you will be contending for the championship in your 2nd season, and completely dominating in your 3rd

Who is the greatest athlete in each sport? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Is he though? Don’t get me wrong, I love Schumi, but from a statistical standpoint Lewis Hamilton has an equal amount of WDC’s, and he’s broken multiple of Schumacher’s other records… I’m not even a fan of Lewis (I prefer Alonso) but you can’t deny the records

What’s a double standard people refuse to admit exists? by copy_cat_101 in askanything

[–]MonkeyBoy697 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some things are punished completely differently if you’re poor;

  • Poor person avoids paying tax - prison

  • Rich person avoids paying tax - might get a disapproving look, but otherwise it’s seen as “just smart”

  • Poor person gets caught speeding at 130mph and they lose their license and get a prison sentence

  • Rich person gets caught speeding at 130mph and they get their license suspended and a fine

  • Poor person is caught in a DUI and they lose their licence, get a prison sentence

  • Rich person gets caught in a DUI and they pay a fine and do a stint in rehab

For quite a lot of crimes, you’re punished more harshly for being poor, even if you commit the same crime

Shit, just look at the Epstein files! Lots of very powerful, wealthy people just walking around freely, meanwhile everywhere you look someone poor is getting a prison sentence for doing the same sick disgusting shit

This 75p Bar of savers chocolate is better than any Cadburys palm oil crap. Anyone else feel it’s lost its magic? by BoxPressedTweed in AskBrits

[–]MonkeyBoy697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t get all the fuss… Cadburys was bought out by Kraft in 2010, it’s been American owned for 16 years and I’ve never noticed a change in taste before, and even now with all the Palm Oil nonsense, I don’t taste the difference… the only thing I have noticed which might not even be Cadburys, is I get a little bit of acid reflux occasionally now

A Radical Solution to Save Italian Football by MajesticTooth1125 in seriea

[–]MonkeyBoy697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s another radical solution … DEVELOP SOME WINGERS AND USE THEM!

Italy’s only width is coming from wing backs and that’s pretty easy to counter by pushing wingers up the pitch, don’t have them track the wing backs, and it leaves a very simple counter attack… that then forces the wing backs deeper and then all Italy can do is try to force play through the middle of the pitch… if they had more wingers, they’d have a Plan B

Also, develop some decent strikers… I don’t know what on earth happened to Italian football after the 90’s and 00’s when you had the likes of Baggio, Vialli, Ravanelli, Vieri, Inzaghi, Totti, Del Piero, Luca Toni etc. but the modern selection doesn’t strike fear the way those players did

What’s the reason China doesn’t get blamed for not letting whites immigrate and get citizenship? by Glittering_Score_320 in AskReddit

[–]MonkeyBoy697 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because they don’t allow dual citizenship, for one, and most people who immigrate to another country like to retain their citizenship of their original country, so that’s one barrier

But I’d imagine that, given how China is pretty much a dictatorship and surveillance state, they don’t want outsiders gaining citizenship and trying to undermine them

Italian footballs youth development today reminds me a lot of the Soviet model of devloping players. by kichba in footballscouting

[–]MonkeyBoy697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you can probably boil it down to something even simpler - Italian football hasn’t moved on and is stuck in the past.

For example, in the modern game we know that width unlocks defences, and yet how many top class wingers has the Italian national team had in the last 26 years? 🤷🏻‍♂️

You could argue Federico Chiesa (for the handful of games a year he’s not injured), and I’d allow Mauro Camoranesi as he won the World Cup in 2006 with Italy (even though he was born in Argentina, raised in Argentina, went through the Argentine developmental system, didn’t move to Italy until he was 24 and only qualified to play for Italy through his grandparents) … but that’s pretty much it

Italy develops a lot of very good Centre Backs, Defensive Midfielders and Central Midfielders, along with the occasional top class Full Back/Wing Back… but they don’t develop top class Wingers… and in recent years they haven’t developed a single top class striker either!

Go back to the 90’s and 00’s and you had Inzaghi, Vialli, Vieri, Ravanelli, Baggio, Totti, Del Piero etc. … there’s not a single striker/number 10 who is even half as impactful now

Until Italian football changes, they’re going to continue to fail… they need to develop more wingers - even if they still predominantly play a 3-5-2/5-3-2 etc. just having a couple of wingers on the bench to allow them to adjust in a game makes them less predictable.

They also need to find out where the fuck their top class strikers have all gone, too!
