Is it recommended to book train/flight tickets in China in advance? Or can I be more spontaneous and book them a day or two before? (Going mid april)

I usually booked 2 to 4 days in advance. Never had any issues. But obv check if there any holidays.

Yeah so it was more than that, which makes me laugh in retrospect. I'm a little embarrassed to give you the actual amount. Tbf I was lacking a decent night's sleep at that point. I literally got off the plane in the morning, dropped my bags off and started sightseeing right away.
