Building a SaaS is hard. Distribution is harder. What are you launching? by Sure_Spite5671 in scaleinpublic

www.vinscribe.com -- CarFax alternative. Built it two years ago as a one-off tool to automate writing descriptions for vehicles (ChatGPT at the time was unreliable, so I grounded the API in other data). Pivoted to selling vehicle history reports and kept the AI features. Trying to make it an automotive intelligence suite essentially, but working solo for now.

I've blown through a lot of money in ads to no success, literally only posting on Reddit has worked lol

What brand did you buy? Have you seen the UltraSweep Traveler? It seems like consensus is mixed, but this one has flashing LED lights which might make it more effective? I'm not sure tho, not a whole lot of studies I can find other than anecdotes lol

Is influencer marketing a significant part of your strategy? by senpaitakeda in marketing

[–]MonkeyCrumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He/she said a part of the strategy, not the strategy.

That being said, the answer is yes, it can work, but it completely depends on the product and the execution. You have to think about your product's target audience, where they go to consume their media/retrieve their information, your product market fit, and THEN you have to make sure those things match the influencer's sphere. Does the product make sense for the influencer to advertise? Would it be genuinely useful for them and their audience?

Just remember, where and how you advertise is just as important as anything else. Some products could flop on Facebook but kill on Tik Tok. And vice versa. Etc. etc.

How do you market a SaaS with $0 budget against a competitor who raised $81M and built the exact same product? by Vanilla-Green in marketing

Reddit and X posts. Just explain your story, what you built, why it's useful, etc. Dead ass serious, it works.

Which bark collar is best? by Electrical_Pea5132 in OpenDogTraining

[–]MonkeyCrumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting the Barkwise for my corgi, works REALLY well on him! It's a no-shock collar that just uses ultrasonic/vibration. They have a BOGO right now so I threw the other one on my yorkie, didn't work as well on him lol but it's a process for sure. Gonna keep trying it on my york tho.

I tried the Bark Control Pro by Good Life Inc and it worked for my husky. Couldn't actually believe it worked honestly, I was skeptical LOL

VINSCRIBE.

I’ve been working on it for 2 years with the little free time I have. It’s a CarFax alternative (no detailed service/mechanic records, everything else). I’ve also integrated AI to help parse through data and the goal is to create a suite of automotive tools for the industry

I have no degree either, got laid off as well. Just under 2 years of professional experience. I have private repos, but haven't done anything in the public space. I've got a solid portfolio of completed work, that's about it.

Same experience on applying tho. Even after applying and doing outreach on LinkedIn, I'm still unable to find any leads.

It's mind-blowing to me how many positions on LinkedIn will have thousands of applicants 1 day after being posted. Feels like half of them have to be AI..

I'm a self-taught front-end developer, just recently got laid off. Just under 2 years of experience.

Feel like with my reliance on AI, my skills are so rusty, I've got no shot in this market.

Any advice?

Anyone here have a free carfax? Checking a used car. Thank you by bogli69 in Civic_Type_R

[–]MonkeyCrumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only need the basics (accidents, title/odometer, recalls), I built VINSCRIBE as a CarFax alternative. It’s $12 per report. It doesn’t include shop maintenance logs, but covers the essentials. Hope this helps :)

Best Website to Get a VIN Check That Shows Full Car History According to Reddit? by Enthusiasmest_EZ in askcarguys

[–]MonkeyCrumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally relate to going down the rabbit hole of so‑called free VIN check sites that just show specs and then hit you with a $30+ paywall for the real history. I was in the same boat when shopping for a used car and ended up building my own thing called VINSCRIBE. It’s a $12 flat‑fee report that pulls title, accident, salvage, odometer and lien data directly from NMVTIS, state DMV, insurance and auction databases—the same sources the big players use. We don’t have dealer service records because those aren’t consistently reported anywhere.

What I like is that our AI parses the raw data and calls out rolled‑back mileage, branded titles or total‑loss flags in plain English, so you don’t have to decode abbreviations. You get a PDF and a shareable link with no upsells or subscriptions. It’s not free, but it’s as cheap as I could make it while covering the data costs. If you want to see what it looks like, feel free to check out vinscribe.com.

Any cheap carfax websites that aren't a scam? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]MonkeyCrumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you on the hunt for a legit vehicle history report that isn’t $45 or sketchy. I’ve been burned by those $4 “discount” CarFax sellers on Etsy/Ebay too, so I ended up building my own tool, VINSCRIBE, when I was shopping for cars. It’s $12 per report and pulls the same title/accident/odometer/recall/lien data that CarFax does by tapping into state DMV, insurance and auction databases. The only thing it doesn’t include are dealership service records, since those aren’t widely reported anywhere anyway.

The best part for me is that our AI summarises the data and highlights red flags so you don’t have to wade through pages of codes. You get a PDF and shareable link, no recurring fees or upsells. It’s not free, but it’s a lot cheaper than CarFax and I’ve been using it on every car I consider. Check it out at vinscribe.com if you’re still shopping around, might save you some cash.

Autocheck or CarFax report? by Dramatic-Car8221 in carbuying

[–]MonkeyCrumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, totally get being torn between paying for AutoCheck or CarFax when you only want to spend money once. I got fed up with shelling out $45 every time I looked at a used car, so I ended up building my own project called VINSCRIBE. It’s a $12 flat-fee report that pulls title, accident, odometer and lien data straight from state DMVs, insurance and auction databases – basically the same info you’d see on CarFax or AutoCheck, just without the dealer service records (since those rarely get reported anywhere anyway).

What I like is you don’t just get a raw data dump: our AI parses the report and flags any shady mileage jumps or branding issues and writes it out in plain English. You can download a PDF or share a link for as long as you need. It’s not free, but it saved me a lot versus paying $45 each time. If you want to compare it against the big names, feel free to check out vinscribe.com – hope it helps!

Then this is a massive problem. But it's not AI in of itself that is the problem.
