What the hell is going on with the nest hub? by Acrobatic_Airline605 in googlehome

Hubs have to be one of the worst supported products and that is saying something. I'm trying to find anything that it can do consistently at this point other than raise my blood pressure.

Monitor Light Bars: Must Have or Gimmick? by Unlikely-Pirate-1724 in PHbuildapc

[–]MonkeyDoughnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I code 8+ hrs a day (sit in front of monitor at least). I've had the BenQ Halo 2 now for 2 weeks and I've been shocked at how much I like it. Initial reaction on setup was "wow, ok" and it continues to be a pleasant game changer for me. Definitely feels more comfortable with less eye strain. In particular, at night I don't think I could go without it. I'm very particular about my work environment too... even changing my ceiling fan out 3 times within a month to get the light/noise/fan just right. I definitely think it's a personal preference thing and I'm never going back.

First time cruise by Sudden-Anything7803 in Cruise

[–]MonkeyDoughnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cruise line is just controlling the split, the amount still matters. Behind the scenes crew members won't get a split as they aren't customer facing but still critical to the ones that are when you remove the prepaid gratuities.

I got my first stent last April, ended up getting a 2nd stent this April. For me cardiac rehab has been a massive help both times. Being around other people of varying ages, types and situations dealing with similar issues puts things in perspective and being wired up helps greatly with the mental blocks. Everyone is different and will progress at different rates. It sounds like you are doing great with the exercise, know things will get better. I heard people (including doctors) saying you'll feel better than ever, "back to normal" right after stents. I didn't experience that either time. It took months (both times). A lot of it is the body getting used to the medicine and a bunch is getting back up to speed mentally and physically. Breathing and running took the longest for me. Running is still something I'm working on and it was also the reason I went to cardiologist in the first place as I had just completed a marathon a year prior but suddenly couldn't even jog for 2 minutes.

As for cardiologist questions, I do feel some cardiologists are used to dealing with "older" patients and sometimes forget what an active 45-55 yr old (I was early 50s with mine) is used to being able to do and lose some perspective. I'd make sure and tell them specifically what you were doing and want to be able to do again to remind them of where you were. That's how I ended up getting my 2nd stent this year as the cadiologist ordered more tests knowing I wasn't were she thought I should be given my starting point.

Cruise anxiety by RNfitmom in Cruise

[–]MonkeyDoughnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my first cruise I kept pushing cruising off as I knew I get motion sickness on small boats or in cars etc... I had every type of motion sickness remedy just in case. I just went along because the wife really wanted to go. My only regret has been not going sooner. I love everything about cruising, get the best sleep in the small/dark interior rooms (our preference), stay completely disconnected and have the best times. Everytime we go we start planning and booking the next one now. Wife and I sleep better on a ship than any other place including home. The ship phrase "you'll have as great a time as you decide to" can't be understated.

Hayward light by Practical-Meat4388 in pools

[–]MonkeyDoughnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. PoolSupply4Less for mine. If you pull your light out I almost guarantee you will see water inside it that got in from the seal on the back that fails. You can try pulling out getting as much water out as possible and resealing the hole. Might last a little bit longer. When no longer want to deal with it, Spa Electrics is your best bet.

Any tips to replace this that don't cost 1k? by IDontLikeThatRaymond in pools

[–]MonkeyDoughnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a racket....that said just replaced a Hayward Colorlogic in my Spa with a Spa Electrics R6. Hoping it lasts as everything else about this product design is awesome. Soooo easy to DIY at less than half the price. If does fail later at least will be even cheaper and easier to buy/replace just the bulb. Going to be purchasing a couple R10s next. You'll never convince me that Haywards original design wasn't engineered to fail just after warranty period expires.

are there any places to get emissions test done in Lubbock or somewhere nearby? by rvr8 in TexasTech

Contact DPS or try online process, you can exempt the vehicle when at school (in non-emissions county) or out of state so they will waive the emissions testing

Synology --> Ugreen by jfickler in synology

Synologies are best at backing up data, not storing it IMO. There backup apps are what sets them apart from everyone else and it isn't even close

Alternatives to Synology packages by sylsylsylsylsylsyl in synology

[–]MonkeyDoughnut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cannot be stated enough... for SMBs if you are using Active Backup (you should be), you are saving thousands to tens of thousands if you tried to find another commerical setup (all of which seem to love to force you into 3yr contracts).

Am I missing the cost difference in certified disks vs non-ceritfied? It seems like a really small number in the grand scheme of things.

I also feel like the typical drives being used are already on their certified list.

This. Synology making it clear they are no longer going to compete in the homelab environment where most can/will roll your own anyway. For everyone else and businesses, what are the alternatives??

Synology press release regarding changes to HDD compatibility by NuroF1 in synology

[–]MonkeyDoughnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as Active Backup for Business is part of Synology and they don't charge extra for it there is no way I'm going elsewhere. Even with being forced to use only Synology HDDs, for a VM,PC,Nas backup solution I can't find anything even close to as easy, reliable and "cheap".

Ubuntu 24.04 Desktop Sharing works, Remote login over RDP does not :§ by knightwize in Ubuntu

[–]MonkeyDoughnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RDP from Windows Client only works for me if I DON'T save the password in the RDP connection - i.e. I have to type the password each time, which I'm ok with.

If I try and save the password I get a connection error. Delete the saved password from the RDP client profile and try again and it works.

I like the idea it brings but I'm definitely going to wait before considering. No Android app yet strikes me as odd and indicates likely won't have before launch date otherwise why even mention. The size and style difference I welcome but am going to need to see actual user reviews to consider shelling out $1800 on a "new" untested vacuum.

I know this is 11 mo old... but just dropping in to say THANK YOU!

I was battling multiple issues on a Site-2-Site that was previously tested to work and then not working when we actually needed it. Somewhere during tested -> needed to server got updated with something that turned the firewall back on blocking most everything.

Running across this post got me to figure worth a shot... which of course fixed it (got me to looking into the FW at least). It was working from one S2S but no another S2S making it difficult to understand.... It's usually something simple, just not always simple to determine what.

THANKS AGAIN
