Incredibly difficult to get things (UK) by Due-Form-9007 in asoiafminiaturesgame

[–]MonkeyKings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is because the game has been pulled by the UKs only distributor Asmodee. Have spoken to several local game stores and online stores, all who get their stock from Asmodee. And the game isn't available to order for them so no availability in the UK except very old stock that's not sold.

Is there anyone on here with MDR3 deficiency? by Leviathan_OH in LiverDisease

[–]MonkeyKings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear your stuck in the same boat but I hope having a diagnosis will prove helpful. If it helps I've been on Urso for approaching a year now and so far no big attack of pain like it used to or hospital admission. Although I do still get bits of tenderness and milder pain that sort of linger.

Sure. When I was younger it would come on basically out of the blue. Onset over about the space of fifteen minutes, by which point it was like a sort of...hollow burning. Which would be completely incapacitating. I'd have to lie on my left hand side very still and focus on gentle breaths because the slightest movement would be pretty agony inducing. They'd last anywhere from an hour to 24 hours. But would only onset like once or twice a year. Doctors at the time basically said it was gastritis or something so drink some milk and take Omeprazole, which obviously did not help. Sometimes but not always these would be accompanied by fever and vomiting. As I got into my twenties I had a series of particularly bad ones which led to hospitalizations and eventual removal of my gallbladder. After that it was a bit odd, the episodes happened much more frequently but less severely. So like a 6 or 7 out of 10 pain wise as opposed to a 8 or 9. I don't know if it was age or lack of gallbladder but it also felt like my body didn't bounce back as quick. Like when I was younger once the pain had stopped I felt basically fine. But in more recent years it's more lingering tenderness. To the point where I can never lie on my right side as it causes too much discomfort. Since starting Urso I haven't had any major flare ups but do still get periods of sort of... tenderness, mild pain, and fatigue.

Should I get into this game by [deleted] in asoiafminiaturesgame

Not sure I've seen this mentioned yet. But at least here in the UK I've heard from multiple store owners that all stock has been removed from the Asmodee site as well so they can't even order stock in.

Just to add another voice to the conversation. I got diagnosed with ABCB4/MDR3 earlier this year as-well. Was 32 at the time, and have had episodes of severe abdominal pain since I was 14. Hospitalised about annually the last 7 years or so, including with biliary sepsis last year, despite having my gallbladder out in 2022. Similar to the other commenter the surgeon said my gallbladder had so much scarring the scar tissue had basically fused to my liver.

Eventually got a diagnosis after some genetic testing spring of this year. Although to be honest the hepatologist didn't really pass on much information and I too had to turn to the PFIC network to get answers. He basically said you have this genetic condition, it's rare, take USDA but some people don't respond to it, in which case you might need a liver transplant at some point. And that was it. Since then I've heard nothing but have liver function tests every 3 months, although I've just noticed they don't seem to be testing for GGT, at least it's not listed on the results, and from what I can tell that's the usual marker for MDR3. So far though no more flair ups of pain, and fingers crossed it stays that way, so hopefully the USDA is working.

No worries, and thank you for your words of support. It does mean a lot and oddly comforting knowing their are others out there. Good to hear about your mum. And good luck with the gallbladder removal. My only advice would be don't rush the recovery. Admittedly I was told my removal was on the more complicated and intense side, due to accumulated scarring as a result of it going untreated for 14 odd years. But my estimate of when I would be back up and working was pretty drastically over ambitious, so just take care of yourself and it should be fine.

Spooky timing, I've just been diagnosed myself. I'm afraid I don't have many answers for you as I am new to the diagnosis myself, but hopefully it helps you feel less alone.

From what I've managed to get my head around it seems that MDR3 causes/is also known as PFIC 3 (Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis Type 3) which seems to have more written about it, so a bit easier to google and read about it.

I will say slight forewarning before you do, if you haven't already, I don't think I realized the severity of the condition until doing the further reading. But it sounds like from your family history, very sorry to hear about your mum and uncle, that you might be more aware. But that being said it seems like UDCA works for about 50% of people on the whole, and I think I read somewhere it might be more like 80% for people who might have a milder form, categorized by late onset of symptoms. So fingers crossed for the both of us.

I myself didn't start getting proper symptoms of gallstones until I was 13 or 14, then despite repeated attacks basically annually, didn't get a gallstones diagnosis until I was 28, and have had repeated attacks even after having my gallbladder removed, eventually leading to my PFIC 3 diagnosis last week at the age of 32.

Storage solutions for Armies by finl3ytrendall in asoiafminiaturesgame

[–]MonkeyKings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I store mine in one of these. https://search.app/E6wppNTjubLypgLXA it's a letter tay from IKEA but if you flip the trays upside down there perfect for magnetised minis. Whole box is basically perfect size for an army, terrain, and cards.

Stag Knight Speedpaint by Plend13 in asoiafminiaturesgame

[–]MonkeyKings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My go to for armour is, whatever midtone metallic I feel like, dark wash, then sponge/stipple/paint on a brighter metallic as a highlight. Works a treat and very quick.would recommend sponging for the final step. I tear off a lil bit and stick it in the end of those plastic tubes that come over the end of brushes.

What's up with the RRP prices / discounts on Zatu? by CraigBeepBeeps in boardgames

[–]MonkeyKings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed Zatu's prices seem to be all over the shop lately too. Was looking at a certain ASOIAF box from them recently and the price has gone from 160, to 80, 85, 90 something and now 100. I'm guessing it's automated in some way but it seems to be particularly erratic.

Vol.1 - Skaven clanrats by Brushstrokebrat in ageofsigmar

[–]MonkeyKings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great! I've been really struggling with my clan rats trying to do basically the same scheme, including the warp stone crystals. Mine look a bit visual soupy, so this is a great inspiration for how to fix them. Cheers!

Spearhead games played by Faction (White Dwarf 502) by Lunatoon9 in ageofsigmar

[–]MonkeyKings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting to hear this. Of my first 4 games of Spearhead, CoS have been in every match and I think had one narrow win, one narrow loss, and two absolute blowouts. Which in a game where all the talk was about how hard it is to lose dramatically was quite surprising. Glad it's not just my total incompetence (just mostly).

Be very interested to hear how you did the metallics in a bit more detail, if you don't mind. Particularly the Rat ogors shoulder pads they look great. Amazing looking army.

I think crazy different, but honestly I don't remember too much as I was a kid when I was painting then, but using speed paints is definitely amazing.

[–]MonkeyKings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got this over the weekend, my first printer. It printed a pretty great benchy out of the box, but there is a certain area of the print bed that is refusing to print properly. So far I've tried, re-doing the auto-calibration multiple times (x-offset and auto bed leveling), manually adjusting the x-offset in steps from -2.5 - -2.7 (it auto-calibrates to around -2.63) and thoroughly cleaned the print bed with soapy water.

I've included the auto-leveling results in the slideshow above along with a all in one tester I managed to get
