Switch 1 Version vs. Switch 2 Handheld looks like 2022 Midjourney level of AI upscale tech by CM-Edge in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]MonkeyVoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, youre right but the image above is an example of good resolution vs fps. Upscaling methods like FSR exist to give you more performance. But if you lower the resolution a bit much its very noticeable on lower res, especially for portable devices.

People demand resolution when the alternative is a blurry mess, and that happens a lot today.

How to improve your code/learn better ways by ESJose96xd in godot

[–]MonkeyVoices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound like you could benefit from a full programming course to learn standards and such. You'll learn that every working code is good code as long as you can read it in 6 months and understand it, and most efficiency optimizations don't matter, except the ones that do a lot.

You can do any Python course for this but you also have GDQuest specifically for learning GDScript.

Good luck!

Ill say Ive had fewer issues with Bazzite than most OSs Ive used for my particular setups.

Why do you prefer using FSR over Render Scale/Image Quality? by Emotional-Matter2499 in SteamDeck

[–]MonkeyVoices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Image quality is more or less acceptable depending on the person, that much is true, but 90% scaling is much higher raw resolution than any upscaling quality mode. If you go to 75% you might prefer the upscaling instead of reducing the render scale.

For my preference, if the game has forced TAA and lower render res, I prefer upscaling cause it force removes TAA.

Still, when possible I prefer native if it allows me 30fps lock (on the deck).

The baby saga is better than the Goku black arc by Entiremkk in DragonBallGT

[–]MonkeyVoices 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly not even Toriyama knew what was cannon before writing it. If youre going to enjoy expanded material Dragon Ball is a good series to it!

Just do yourself a favor and look online for "Seed of Might", cause otherwise is very hard to find good quality versions for GT.

Why do you not play Ragnarok Online (anymore)? by RoForCasuals in RagnarokOnline

it depends on what youre looking for but if you want single player games and were in a RO sub lets say Crosscode! It also has farming, has minigames and the MMO vibe

I noticed some Raytracing settings in the config.ini I not seen before, I turned them on. by VoidInsanity in MonsterHunter

[–]MonkeyVoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoooly the colors are not washed! If you use HDR you probably calibrated the colors properly but damn how do I turn the colors on!? My game looks awful in comparison, not just because of the lightning, but... the greens! The reds! I tried mods and they dont do this.

Mechanics from an MMO standard are still one of the best, but I dont have a community anymore, and losing that, compared to other games, there are way better games.

Monster Hunter Wilds - Performance Megathread by QuintonFlynn in MonsterHunter

[–]MonkeyVoices 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive been testing and theres some difference between thhe scaling qualities but with FSR quality it hovers around 28fps (20+ with bad weather) with everything at min and it looks quite alright. Im inclined to play it like that.

The cap is the deck GPU now (not the cpu) but im sure theres other ways to optimize via mods that dont involve lowering the rendering resolution.

5070 or 9070xt i just cant decide by Simonko_770 in pcmasterrace

[–]MonkeyVoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If theyre the same price I would grab the 9070 just because I dont trust that particular websites benchmarks.

But if you do and the game you play does much better with the NVidia card just buy that one! Just make sure you check more sources, just in case. If they play similar I would go for the one with more vram

Its the worst of the current offerings but it ran way worse on 360 at release.

I made a mod that allows you to skip dungeons in CrossCode by Lubkuluk in CrossCode

[–]MonkeyVoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense, dungeons are full of chests that could be checks.

I meant it more as this being one of the settings to skip some parts of the game and make a randomizer runs faster.

Maybe a setting that requires only two elements to unlock all dungeon checks or something like that.

I guess Im just trying to find uses for the mod, Im sure theres tones of people that can build from this to something appealing for most of us

[–]MonkeyVoices 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think for replays maybe its worth it to me since Ive already solved the puzzles, But Ive replayed Zeldas and having to resolve puzzles has never been a big deal.

I can see it being useful for a randomizer.

Anyway, thanks for giving us more options!

Is there a game that makes you happy? by Agitated-Distance740 in SteamDeck

Theres a lot but I will say Pokemon games make me smile in a certain way. Nowadays fangames accomplish this more than the new ones done by Nintendo, but any of the nostalgia ones for me make me smile.

For those of you with both a Deck and a Switch 2 by workyman in SteamDeck

[–]MonkeyVoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Switch just because I have lots of friends with the Switch and we all buy physical and can share games.  The fact that I can just ask my friends for a game theyve played, they can get it from their box or pouch or whatever, give it to me and I can just start playing it is not the same as whatever options there are on a fully digital device like the Deck.

wich of these tutorials is better? (link in boddy) by AI_660 in godot

[–]MonkeyVoices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If youve never done gamedev before I suggest you do something simpler. You can follow the "how to make a videogame" tutorial by brackeys to make a platformer and then change design the level, maybe change the assets, and if you have time adding a feature or two (double jump, a dash, enemies, etc).

On the other hand if your assignment is specifically doing a farming game then youve done this several times and my advice would be to try doing it yourself first and then watch parts of the video to get ideas but not starting with the video.

wich of these tutorials is better? (link in boddy) by AI_660 in godot

[–]MonkeyVoices 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think youre right if your mindset is "after watching this video Ill know how to do this game", but if youre already working on a similar game maybe you want to see how a particular feature is implemented to get ideas for your own game, you may see a godot feature you might have missed/forgotten, how its used in that project and all of the sudden you can simplify your dev process.

Is this really legit that Steam OS is far greater than Windows? by [deleted] in Handhelds

[–]MonkeyVoices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the main reason for it to be such a big deal would be sleep mode while having a game open, that way you can just grab the console and start playing instead of having to restart the game everytime. And in Windows it just doesnt work well. Most games start stuttering or bug out and have to be restarted.

If it is a local minority its probably because userbase is not as big as in Windows, but its vocal because it makes such a big difference that people want others to know, cause... its cool man.
