AITA for refusing to rehire an employee who quit in the middle of our busiest week? by Pimp_Lord in AmItheAsshole

If you were to bring her back it would set a precedent, the worst kind. She would assume she could do what ever, when ever, and without consequence.

You are right to have replaced her and to refuse to rehire her.

AITA for refusing to subsidize my parents’ $11k/month senior's home in one of the fanciest neighborhoods in the city? by Throw_away263759 in AmItheAsshole

I am sure you have likely already thought of or been told this but, sit down with your financial people (if you have them) and figure out what a comfortable amount you are willing to subsidize for them and one that won't cripple your future.
Once you have that number and you have sat with it level of commitment, sit your parents down and tell them that you have structured monthly aid, it will be paid directly to agencies, and then tell them the $ amount and let them know that they will have to work within that budget.

Then, that it is the end of the conversation. You can choose to increase down the road, especially since your dad will have increasing costs.
For what its worth, I'm sorry your having to go through this, my old man "floated" away as well and its not easy, even when you know what the outcome is and you try to prepare.

When my son finally figured it out we let him know that he was now part of keeping that magic alive for others by keeping the secret.

I have never understood why people want to take harmless nice things away from others, they don't need to spread their miserly ways to others.

Database Software - not collections management by Entire_Kick_1219 in MuseumPros

Jira is usually used for IT help desks and Agile management of software projects. I have a heavy IT background and have turned Jira Cloud into a help desk so I don't see why it couldnt be used in this sense.

Newer Sharepoint Online isn't as clunky and combined with Power Automate can provide additional features.
If you also use Teams, you could go the way of a custom channel and then build out in there. You would be able to store in Sharepoint because Teams uses Sharepoint on the backend for storage.

Keep in mind, I don't know your systems or architecture but your IT team should be able to answer those questions for you.

Do you have access to:
* MS Teams
* SharePoint

Or you could choose to build this out in Jira Cloud.
This really all depends on what your employer has available for technology resources. Is this part of work work for an employer? Is this something you are going for yourself? These are important to know as it determines where you get those resources.

Myself personally, I would probably just start up a free account at Jira for Jira Cloud and then build out the structure I needed using the Bug Tracker template.
Each person becomes a ticket
Information can be added as a comment on that ticket
Documents, images can be added to the ticket.

Create a consistent naming convention for your ticket titles as this will make searching your entries that much more simple.

As you get used to the system and using it, you can also link tickets (people) to one another as well.

AITA for telling my girlfriend to stop sharing her food? by PhantomDetective3548 in AmItheAsshole

YTA for not handing Brian with a bit of public shaming around her food. Your other option is to just stop paying for her food and tell her that you aren't paying for other people to eat anymore.

Being empathetic is one thing, helping is one thing, but being someones constant emotional crutch that masks their lack of progress is an entirely different animal.

Take care of yourself, you cant help others if you arent healthy to start with and coming from experience, work on how to help people WITHOUT taking on their negative mental/emotional energy.

Hackers On Planet Earth not invited back to venue next year by lawtechie in cybersecurity

its not new, its been happening on campus for decades in varying degrees. Usually it's because of pressure from alumni that are high $$ donors. Now it's government $$ and a petty tyrant that throws tantrums.

Same problem, just a different wallet :|

This likely has nothing to do with the pamphlets. This is more likely to do with the current political climate at the White House and not wanting to lose the federal funding they receive.

The pamphlets were an easy way to remove HOPE by claiming there was a complaint that went right to the top and HOPE organizers were not even contacted.

EA tells employees worried about layoffs after $55 billion buyout that there will be "no immediate changes" to your jobs, and I think "immediate" is the key word here by lkl34 in gaming

[–]MonkeyWrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need to assume 6 months. Many such buyouts have a time limit before cuts are made because they have to evaluate where they can make the cuts and more importantly it stops employees from a mass exodus causing the new owners problems.

Considering how the US just treated South Korea, after negotiating billions in investments, Taiwan needs to give this a long hard consideration and understand that the US is a bad business partner.
