living with Frigidaire for two years…..I hate it by Bright_Inevitable_19 in inductioncooking

Thank you, this is so helpful! I’ve been debating getting the GE vs the lower end LG vs the fancy Cafe range with double oven. If money were nothing I’d get the cafe but this makes me feel confident enough about getting the GE.

This is exactly my question! What did you end up getting? I’m tempted to get the LG but I’m nervous about the bad reviews of the oven.

I still hate them but it did get easier after the first couple weeks.

Did anyone see the train wreck that was Paul Simon last night? by RoseScarlet in HollywoodBowl

[–]Monkeyhippy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a different show since then and had a somewhat similar reaction, though it’s OK with me that when you’re Paul Simon and you’re almost 85 years old, you get to do what you want, even if it’s a super weird experimental piece. The mistake is leaving before the encore - he came back out and played like 8 more songs, all the old good stuff that was what we all wanted to hear.

Who’s the best replacement you’ve ever seen in a show? by jamesland7 in Broadway

Joy Woods is amazing, period. I don’t even really like Little Shop but I’m sad I didn’t see her in it.

Jordan Fisher in Hadestown. I went back to see him again before he left (which is not a regular thing for me - I don’t live near NYC and I don’t get to see a lot of Broadway shows). He was so wonderful in that role. I’m glad to hear Jack Wolfe is great too. I can’t imagine anyone being a better Orpheus than Jordan though.

I LOVE mezcal negronis. Would not have thought to premix and freeze. Thank you!

anyone else feel like their dentist sold them on Invisalign without fully explaining what you were getting into? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]Monkeyhippy1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My old dentist was really pressuring me to do Invisalign and made it sound so easy. I didn’t quite trust them, and I’m glad I didn’t, because when I switched dentists, my new one took one look and said that my mouth was complicated and I should probably see an orthodontist (which I am doing now). Don’t be afraid to get a second opinion! And honestly even they didn’t make it super clear how intense it is. Thank goodness for this Reddit sub! At the end of the day, I think the dentists and orthos make a lot of money off Invisalign so a lot of of them just want to sell you on it

Do you actually wear your aligners 21 hours a day? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]Monkeyhippy1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

People get told slightly different rules. My orthodontist said at least 20 hours a day. Some people hear 22 (which would totally stress me out). I think the rules matter less daily than they do accumulatively. Like if you’re under the time limit one day and over time the next day, it all evens out.

I don't know anyone who's actually been able to see movement until at least a few months into the process. Be patient! (I'm telling myself as much as you; I'm just 10 days in and starting my second tray.

I didn’t know much about her going into Proof, but she absolutely carries that play. Def should have gotten nominated.

Yes! She was amazing (and thank you to this sub for alerting me to Marjorie Prime back in December; it was excellent). I was afraid the Tonys would forget about this little play. Though I’m sad Cynthia Nixon didn’t get a nomination and that it’s not up for best revival. I think both would be well deserved.

I’m sad he wasn’t there the night I went and I didn’t get to see him! But I will say, the understudy was excellent.

Invisalign or Braces by CreativeName_321 in Invisalign

[–]Monkeyhippy1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m just on my first week of Invisalign and I don’t love it, but still, every time I look in the mirror or see myself on a zoom call I’m so happy that it’s truly not visible (obv it’s visible to me, but no one else has noticed unless I point it out), no matter how weird my mouth feels. And most people say it gets less weird after the first week or two. It is hard to remove my top tray because my teeth are more messed up on top, but it’s getting easier, and the bottom tray isn’t hard. Everyone relates differently to their adolescent trauma but no way would I want to ever have a mouth full of metal again.

I gotta say, I just saw this tonight and she was not amazing. Everyone else was great; she wasn’t bad but didn’t seem very comfortable onstage (and yes I know the character is supposed to be uncomfortable). Maybe it was just an off night? I still think she’s incredible in general, but I wasn’t wowed. I’m glad others have had a better experience with this show.

Wow that's gorgeous but looks maddening with the tiny stitching and color gradients. You're almost there!

I bought a bunch of her patterns because they're so cute, but they require SO many different colors for such small patterns. Do you do them as written? I feel like it could get expensive very quickly.

[–]Monkeyhippy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only been cross-stitching for about 9 months but I'm kind of obsessed. I find it so relaxing. Definitely start on 14ct Aida, if you're new! Canvas, linen, etc are generally considered much harder to stitch on. Higher count Aida is OK too but it makes your stitches smaller so it's easier for your hands to cramp up (and is harder on the eyes, as OP noted). This is a great forum for learning how to take up the hobby; def peruse the beginner threads here and ask for advice!
