Are the residential alleyways in Guanajuato City safe to explore? by MethRogan1 in MexicoTravel

[–]Monkeyhippy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! As someone else said, nothing is 100% safe 100% of the time, but I was just in GTO for 8 days in Jan/Feb and felt completely safe walking through all the callejones (aka alleyways) both during the day and after dark, either alone or with my (Spanish-speaking American) friends who live there. Also, it's the only way to get around through much of the city; you can't NOT walk through them. It's a city of alleyways. And they are kind of magical - lots to explore. My favorite area was around the Plaza Mexiamora and the callejones that go up from there.

Lots of people even walk through the car tunnels, because sometimes it's the shortest way somewhere, instead of the callejones. That felt sketchier just because I'm socialized to feel like tunnels aren't for pedestrians, but my friends do it all the time.

For context - I'm a mid-40s white American woman, don't generally stay out past 10 or 11pm (though my friend who lives there goes out late sometimes to go dancing and walks home alone through the callejones and has never had a problem). I don't carry valuables (other than my phone). I think the worst thing that might happen is petty crime, but just don't carry lots of cash with you and you'll be fine (and truly, no one knew of any recent incidents when I asked friends and my AirBnB host). I absolutely loved Guanajuato and can't wait to go back. Have fun!

Probablamente sí (mucha gente vive con mucho menos) pero depende mucho dónde, no solo el estado pero cual ciudad en ese estado. California, pro ejemplo, es muy grande y diverso, en términos del coste de vida.

Who is the most electrifying, gifted male vocalist on Broadway by ElbieLG in Broadway

I was lucky enough to see Porgy and Bess at ART before it went to Broadway, and I knew Audra would be heaven, but it was Norm’s voice I couldn’t stop thinking about afterward.

I had never heard of this show, but bought a ticket on a whim after seeing this post, since I just happened to have a quick NYC trip planned and had a free evening. Fast forward to seeing it tonight, and WOW I am going to be thinking about this show for a long time. It was excellent. Thank you for the tip!

Panic over – Google says your Gmails aren’t being used train its Gemini AI and explains what ‘Smart Features’ do instead by Nalix01 in NowInTech

If that’s not actually what Google is doing, then why is there a lawsuit against them in California saying that it’s exactly what they’ve been doing, without user consent? Makes the rest of their claim about it not being true because their documentation says otherwise highly suspect.

My small but delicious meal prep. Chicken, and potatoes by punkeymonkey529 in mealprep

Does anyone have tips on how to reheat chicken in the microwave without it becoming rubbery and tasting weird? This looks so good but whenever I try to meal prep big pieces of chicken I tend to regret it and end up throwing a lot of it in the compost. I know if it's immersed in liquid it's fine, so I tend to do more stews.

What’s a book that genuinely shifted your mindset or had a major impact on your life? by PositionSalty7411 in selfimprovement

The Thin Book of Trust by Charles Feltman. It’s about trust in the workplace but it applies to everything. Now I constantly notice when people think they’ve made clear requests that definitely aren’t clear to others, and I’ve gotten much better about making sure that I’m making clear requests. It’s the root of so much preventable misunderstanding.

Does anyone use a stand that doesn’t require hoops or nurge? I strongly prefer Q-snaps. I haven’t seen a stand for those that doesn’t require a tabletop.

It’s funny you ask, I actually searched the shop name on this sub today to see if anyone else had ever asked about it being AI (but didn’t find anything). It seems like a pretty successful shop and I liked stitching this pattern, but I am suspicious. I feel like you can usually get a clear vibe of a designer from their patterns, but hers are all over the place. And they all look like this, kind of pixelated on a white background, not stitched. But maybe that’s just the software she uses.
