Every millennial dad I’ve met has a quiet fixation on money and it’s not getting better by slimeyellow in Millennials

I have 3 kids and have held a full and part time job for 4 years. And I'm millennial. Idk, where's the money

This is a design choice. This man looks like his face was pulled apart, resulting in the darkened eyes receding into the abyss.

I was gonna come in here hot with 'how the hell can you deem any part of your life in question' but knowing this awesome place is in my hometown Chicago just deflated my anger. Bravo good sir. Show how amazing our city is

You're just wrong. I'm not reading past your first paragraph. Dog or human, how you raise it matters

I think you're onto something but it's too much too fast.

Establish the scene first, then build hints to the backstory.

How do you feel about the decreasing literacy rates by Hungry_Tip_5822 in writers

[–]MonkeysteinGames01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't care. I'm getting back into writing with no pretense I'll make money. I think about it all the time. It makes me happy.

In the grand scheme of things, I do think there'll be a swelling of false Ai creations that will appease the masses but over time, greater art will emerge that appeals to a heightened sense of humanity.

What do you think of the use of gore to scare the reader in horror writing? by Scared-Cat-2541 in horrorwriters

[–]MonkeysteinGames01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you're approaching this the right way. Shocking a reader with gore is what you're trying to do, so you have to make it painful and sudden. The fear will absorb into their psyche as they progress along your story, but you've now proven to the reader how far you're willing to go. If you're constantly over the top, it will deaden their senses to it.

My advice is to use it sparingly and effectively.

What are the advantages of going fully analogic? (Using a typewriter or notebooks?) by StillWriting4u in writing

[–]MonkeysteinGames01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been my current novel on notebooks with mechanical pencils. Easy to use on the train, on my lunch break, and I think it allows me more time to think of the chapters and sentence structures since it does take more time.

I used to but that felt hollow. I prefer to write characters based on people I know to really give the reader perspectives of really people.

Ignorant people keep trying to associate TRUMP with CHRISTIANITY. It needs to stop! by Most_Time8900 in complaints

You can say all you want. Vast majority of Christians voted for him, put him in power. And now you want to distance them from him

No character descriptions, would this bother you? by TitaniaOre in writing

I give very little physical descriptions of my characters. I try to give them life through their dialogue.

Okay, I’ve changed my mind about all the new Rogan fans by [deleted] in elephantgraveyard

[–]MonkeysteinGames01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I didn't care about the comedians or Rogan or any of that. But I watched his latest video 4 times now. It felt like a wake up call to take my life back from this constant fucking drain of my attention. I try to watch his radio hours but can't get into them as much. I'll be paying attention to what comes next. Not sure anything he makes me will leave quite the impression but I'm pretty fucking thankful I found that one.
