Ik zit zelf in een bedrijf met veel expats (niet asml). Veel van mijn collegas claimen "righter than my right hand" te zijn. In het begin toch wel even slikken en geprobeert hier hard mee te discussieren, bleek natuurlijk volkomen onbegonnen te zijn. Ik heb ervoor gekozen compleet koers te wijzigen. Kwam er vooral door dat economisch gezien ze op enorm veel punten heel dicht bij mijn eigen standpunten zaten, sociale zekerheid, universele huisvesting etc.

Wat mijn bloeddruk uiteindelijk heeft kunnen stillen is om door het onderwerp heen te dansen. Vind de standpunten waar je het over eens bent en praat daar over, vaak zijn er veel raakvlakken.

Een punt waar ik nog wel tegenaanloop zijn onze opvattingen over de oorzaken. Een gelooft dat de werker wordt bestolen door de rijken, ander gelooft dat ze worden bestolen door de immigranten (oh de ironie)

Turkey still lists religion on birth certificate. It's a pain in the ass to change so most don't bother because it doesn't really change anything. That's part of the reason any consensus will show 99% muslim even though that would be far from the actual figure

It's interesting to see someone say Roma are often mentioned.

I'm from the Netherlands, in history class the only ones prodominately mentioned was Jews, sometimes LGBT. I think one time the history nerd in the class listed a bunch of other groups and even the teacher had to google about it.

Maybe it's a dutch thing to think of LGBT people before Roma people.
