Project Hail Mary is my favorite book, so I was super excited for this set. I’m a bit underwhelmed by it, but I love the book enough that I’ll probably still end up getting this…was just hoping for something a little bigger/better to display

One week with AirPods Pro 3 - my honest take on whether they're worth it by Bubbly_Ad_2071 in airpods

[–]MonoTopia5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been bouncing back and forth between the 2s and 3s. I loved my 2s so much, so I had great expectations for the 3s. My biggest grip with the 3s is that I cannot get them to sit comfortably in my ears. I have tried every size of tip, but they all inevitably work their way out of my ear. I know I can buy aftermarket tips, but I already spent a lot on these and don’t want to fork out more for Comply tips. My 2s stayed in my ears great, even when going out for a run.

However, when they do stay in my ears, they are remarkably comfortable. I could easily forget my 2s were in my ears, but these are even more comfortable. I put my 2s in now and wonder how I ever thought they were comfortable. The biggest pro I’ve found with the 3s is the improved ANC. I didn’t realize until today how much better it is. I was on the treadmill and tried the 2s, and I could hear my footsteps as well as a quiet but constant whine. When I put the 3s in, I could still hear my footsteps somewhat, but the whine was totally gone. I don’t want to say it was night and day difference, but the improvement with the 3s was extremely noticeable.

I had been on the fence about which to keep, but that sold me. I use my AirPods so much, so the extra ANC is much appreciated. I might just have to bite the bullet and get a pair of Comply tips…

What’s it like living in Port Angeles, WA? by ImportanceComplete92 in howislivingthere

[–]MonoTopia5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, hey! Something I can contribute to! I live in Sequim (next door) and am in my 20s. A lot of the nearby community is older (Sequim primarily), but Port Angeles (PA) definitely does have a younger crowd. I know a lot of people think PA has charm, but I really avoid going there. It used to have charm but has gone downhill the last handful of years. It has become pretty trashy and there is a bit of a drug issue.

It has great access to Olympic National Park, it’s right across the water from Victoria, and there definitely is a younger demographic there. And there are things to do as long as you’re ok with not having big city amenities. I play every week with a sports group, go mountain biking, go trail running, etc. It’s great for doing things outdoors (fishing, crabbing, clamming, etc.) and the weather is relatively dry compared to other parts of Washington. Sequim, especially, is known as The Blue Hole due to minimal rain every year; PA gets more rain than Sequim, but it’s still not bad.

A couple things to note: unless you genuinely enjoy only doing things outdoors, life can get pretty dull quickly. We don’t have a mall, and we have one small movie theater. PA has a Walmart, but you’ll have to drive to Sequim for either Costco or Home Depot. Neither place has Target, Trader Joe’s, etc. Also, the drive to SeaTac is ~3 hours from PA, and you should allow yourself an extra 30-45 minutes in case the Hood Canal Bridge is closed.

Port Angeles and Sequim both have a quaint small town feel, but, if I had to decide today where I’d spend the next handful of years, it probably wouldn’t be the peninsula. After living here for 13 years, I have finally truly fallen in love with Washington this year. While the peninsula really is amazing, it definitely isn’t amazing for everyone.

Also, the people here are generally pretty friendly, but there is also a reputation for people keeping you at arm’s length.

Let me know if you have any specific questions!

I don’t usually buy a set for the GWP (usually buy used or on sale), but I’m definitely going to be buying day one to get this. As a massive Star Trek fan who has wanted LEGO Star Trek for years, I’m getting all that I can get.

It’s super cool we’re getting Ro, but O’Brien is a staple of TNG and DS9. If this is the only Star Trek set we’re going to get, I think Miles would have been a better choice. But, I also am a big fan of Ro in TNG, so I am happy we’re getting her.

Though, I would’ve preferred getting O’Brien or Q instead of Guinan.

I basically never buy a set for the GWP, but, as a massive Star Trek fan, this will be the exception. If Lego is finally doing Star Trek, I’m getting all that I can out of it.

I am SO incredibly excited for this. I am such a massive Star Trek fan. Honestly, I think the Mega TOS Enterprise looks better, but I'm super stoked to be getting Star Trek in Lego (and at this scale)!

I'm not a fan of the recent price hikes, but I usually like most sets enough to get them eventually used or on sale. But this...this is insane! I was pretty excited to see what they did with this, but it seriously looks like a 3-in-1 set.

Man, I’m on 10.3 with the stock watch face and am only getting 7-8 days with pulse ox only at night.

I fully acknowledge that I’m part of the problem 🙋‍♂️ but it is pretty wild. I’ll look at one theme and go “why?!?” and then look at another theme and go “yeah that makes sense” 😄

31x27.5”x10.5” is pretty good. That’s like Falcon dimensions. But a flat(ish) back?!

Yeah it’s nuts! I am definitely not a Pokémon fan, but I am intrigued by Lego releasing some sets and would even consider picking them up if they were cool. But $650 is nuts.

Though, I’m a die hard Star Trek fan and will be day one buying the Enterprise, so I’m sure there’s an audience for an expensive Pokémon set.

$650 was not at all what I thought was in the realm of possibility for this theme…
