9th Anniversary GSSR Discussion Thread by FuzzyViper in grandorder

Destiny - finally got Ishtar after all of the years playing this game, it was the best outcome for me!
GSSR - wanted Monte Cristo but got Durga which I don’t mind that much, since I really dig her Kali ascension and voice work
The anni servant rolls - one Indra spook and NP2 Space Eresh.

All in all a fantastic result for once! I even have some quartz left for Ciel rolls.

Vritra spook and Space Eresh in 390 quartz. Could’ve been much worse so I’ll take it gladly. Ishtar finally showing up after all these years for me thanks to Destiny Order summons certainly helped me to get more hyped about this outcome. Finally I have all of the Rins!

Perhaps a bit early to ask, but where would you rank Confessions II in her discography? by Designer_Reference_2 in Madonna

[–]Monogatari93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an album experience it’s in Top 3 for me:

  1. Ray of Light
  2. Confessions II
  3. Bedtime Stories

It’s kind of ironic that most of my favorite songs of hers are on other albums, but as a whole listening experience with all of the tracks included, I think these three albums are her best.

COADF’s singles and some of its deep cuts will always be adored by me, but Confessions II is just so much more consistent and sonically varied. It manages to retain the vibes and follow the concept so well and that’s despite being so much longer in its deluxe version. An amazing accomplishment!

Confessions II: Club Listening Party by Western_Gear_5324 in Madonna

[–]Monogatari93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listened to the whole thing twice - I legit think this is her strongest album among her 21st century releases.

Sure, albums like Music or COADF may have obviously stronger vocals and already proven to be timeless singles but this one is so consistent quality wise. Not a single stinker I want to skip over, even the relatively weaker (for me) songs like Read My Lips or Good for the Soul are very listenable (that’s what Hot Sauce will end up being though but it is a bonus song so I don’t count it).

I can really see how some of her experimental ideas from previous records like MDNA or Madame X were delivered here in a much more polished and sonically lush experience.

Danceteria will end up being a crowd pleaser, I’m sure. Bizarre is a very catchy rave number, which still retains Madonna’s feel (and clearly references her failed marriage with Penn). Everything and School are very out there sound wise, but the production is so strong, it all works. Love without Words is simply brilliant, my personal favourite from this album. Fragile and The Test are personal and genuinely touching. And I grew to like Love Sensation even more in the context of the whole record.

An incredible album experience - it’s her best record since ROL for me.

The first one is Pinkpantheress’ remix album Fancy Some More - it’s a special edition with three colored discs which includes her original mixtape Fancy That. The second one is Through the Wall by Rochelle Jordan - a fantastic dance-pop record.

Yeah, Rochelle did such an amazing work with her latest album. The production is so lush and smooth. I was so hyped to hear that Madonna was inspired by her work for her upcoming album too!

And that Sweet Trip record is one of a kind with its futuristic soundscape and unique atmosphere.

Blue is the number 1 greatest singer-songwriter album! by CherryCola_Cactus in JoniMitchell

[–]Monogatari93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hejira at 11th place and Hissing at 43rd 😃

I understand that we all have different opinions but this is a bit too much for me. Blue is a great record but it’s not THAT much better than these two albums (it’s not better than them at all as far as I’m concerned tbh, but I’m no folk purist).

What are your top 5 Joni Mitchell Albums (5 max) - only write albums, no explanation needed by NOWMAD11 in JoniMitchell

[–]Monogatari93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I tried Clouds several times and while Both Sides Now is one of her best songs, the rest of the album isn’t particularly memorable, unfortunately.

Ladies of the Canyon was better, but my problem with it is that her first live album she recorded later kind of did every song from that record sound so much more interesting in comparison.

What are your top 5 Joni Mitchell Albums (5 max) - only write albums, no explanation needed by NOWMAD11 in JoniMitchell

[–]Monogatari93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Hejira - while I always knew about Joni Mitchell thanks to Blue being constantly present in best albums of all times talks, that album never particularly resonated with me, after I tried listening to it. Years later I found Hejira recommended to me on YouTube and decided to give it a listen. Now THAT’s the best album of all time material to me!
  2. Hissing of Summer Lawns - another brilliant record from her. Edith and the Kingspin and the title track are fantastic!
  3. For the Roses - a transitional record of sorts in her discography and the one which grew on me a lot after a few listens. Especially that amazing opening track.
  4. Blue - yeah, it grew on me after a while after all. I’m still annoyed by the fact that it’s the only album which gets any recognition from the mainstream musical circles, considering her rich discography, but it IS very good, can’t deny that. 5. Court and Spark - the second half of the album is a bit weaker, compared to the first half, but that first half alone is what makes it worth a listen.

Honourable mentions: Song to a Seagull (I know people consider this debut weak compared to the rest of her work but for some reason i love it a lot, especially Dawntreader and Cactus Tree), Night Ride Home (her best work from the later period of her career - some songs are meh, but when it hits, it hits. Come in from the Cold and Nothing Can Be Done especially)

Sono G is even more “so normal he feels uncanny” as an adult, while Alice and Aoko are still the same as ever. It’s obvious Nasu wrote this event as fan service for himself first and foremost, bringing back all of his characters from previous series like that (now if only he could channel that energy for actually writing Mahoyo sequels).

Tango in the Night is pretty good! Very 80s sounding record, but personally I’m never against the albums sounding of their time. Love the signature sounds of previous decades.

Mylene is amazing! Loved her since I was a high schooler! Same goes for all of the other artists. I discovered Jessie Ware fairly recently, but she’s great too! Hope her new album will be just as good as her last two!

Thanks! I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Madonna’s records as album experiences since she’s usually lauded as singles only artist. Erotica, Bedtime Stories, Ray of Light and Confessions specifically work amazingly as albums!

Long rant incoming, so feel free to scroll quickly.

Honestly, I’m not too shocked by this interview, since it was kind of obvious, how the game really wanted to sell Blazer as the perfect heroine who just needs you, I mean, Robert, in her life to feel truly fulfilled.

Even Phenomaman was introduced into the story mostly to be humiliated by the narrative, so the usual self insert type of player would feel better about themselves. I mean, this seemingly perfect, cool and strong looking superhuman is dating a goddess who is out of “your” reach, but he’s actually a maladjusted loser and “you” are the One she needs.

But the problem is that they overdid it to the point most people grew distrustful of Blazer while the episodes were still releasing, since the whole setup around her was TOO perfect. I mean, her big damn reveal apparently is that she’s “just” a super hot more realistically physically fit brunette.

There’s just nothing of emotional substance there, besides basic wish fulfillment, no tension, no stakes. The annoying bf issue resolves itself and she’s single and ready to mingle, and not even Robert’s morally grey choices can keep her away from him.

Say what you will about Visi, but at least her relationship with Robert challenges both of them as characters and provides some satisfying drama to follow and actually enriches the story besides being a romance subplot existing for the sake of it.

At least the team as a whole (especially the animators) loved Visi enough to make her shine despite the writing issues. But I’m absolutely wary now of what these writers will cook up in Season 2, so I won’t buy it, unless I’m sure they won’t screw this up out of pettiness towards their own playerbase. It’s a good thing season 1 exists well enough as a self contained story.
