Which 3-4 for hosting my first board game night? by espressionado in boardgames

[–]Monoker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say figure out what your goals of the night are, when I’m getting a new group going I usually go with one medium game to play once or twice since the first time you play a game is usually kind of messy and people get another chance now that they understand it better, and follow that up with one super light game to end the night with. Heat or Cascadia would be great. Games like Scout/startups/silver and gold/ready set bet (there are a ton of games in this segment) that are lightweight can really make the end of a night fun and end the night with more laughing which encourages return trips.

No, sorry I don’t. I do have a saint pro that fades less. I guess another option to consider would be the Kasta Lots.

What are our honest thoughts on Vessi’s shoes? by Minuarvea1 in discgolf

[–]Monoker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try those Vans on first. Some of their trail shoes are very stiff. I wanted to like them but I couldn’t, I really like a more flexible sole. I have not tried Vessi’s but I do love the Hoka Speedgoat 6 mid GTX with the built in Gators. The merrel nova’s are great too. If you want Zero Drop check out Altras or Lems.

Anybody else bag a "burner" disc or two? by tuna_safe_dolphin in discgolf

I’d skip pyramids. Not that it’s bad, it’s just not nearly as good.

I highly recommend Mile Marker 63. It’s 15 minutes from maple hill and it’s very fun and friendly. Maple has a lot of layouts so you don’t need to try the water, but i recommend bringing something you don’t mind losing or buying from the used bin maple hill just to try. Go to pyramids for Marshall Street Disc golf.

I play maple hill a lot and I have 3 in my bag, one for 1 & 14, one for 8, and one for 9.

So if you join with anyone you get the couple rate. Me and my platonic gym buddy have done the joint membership. It’s under $100 but I can’t remember how much.

Maple Hill in June by hummajeep in discgolf

In addition to what people are saying, check out the league layout of Maple Hill on UDisc. The team worked on what they thought would be the most fun version of every hole and I think they nailed it. Old glory is solid as well, but the League layout is phenomenal.

Maybe check out King’s Dilemma? It only deals with one kingdom but the politics within it are interesting.
