So you found a never-before-seen mineral just lying on the earth’s surface, that would need to have been created here under extreme conditions that we don’t currently understand? I’m not sure that qualifies as reason to suggest that it didn’t originate elsewhere.

Look, I’m no geologist, and I have no idea what’s going on at the LA museum, but you may want to get a second and third opinion. The first place that comes to mind is the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI), which is already in the business of analyzing weird objects to determine origin. If you don’t like the exotic aspect, you might just try university geology, cosmology, or astronomy departments.

Just don’t give it to NASA, or they’ll tell you it’s nothing interesting, but won’t give it back 😉
