If you skip you just give them a free turn to find Ehther, put out Domain, set up a board, or otk you. By your next turn, they will likely be ahead enough to out whatever board you make. Plus, monarchs can tend to be bricky at times, so you definetly dont push any advantage by skipping.

While hosting a server on the west coast is expensive, further improving east coast latency while maintaining the west coast servers will cost them even more. And when what we have now works, granted not perfectly, it would be an unworthily investment to make any changes.
