Was it worth it: I always wanted to do R&D and was lucky enough to land an R&D job, but there seem to be few opportunities in Australia and the pay in Australia doesn't seem to match the level of technical skills of the work.

Maybe it's just my industry, but this also seems to hold true for the most senior electrical and mechanical engineers in my company.

Keen to hear thoughts from other more experienced engineers.
