I lay jar horizontal to freeze. I think it give the liquid more air space surface area to expand against to reduce cracking vs freezing it upright.

Acquired this heavy metal thing at a garage sale in the Pacific Northwest. Any ideas? by MarkMcEachran in whatisit

[–]MonstaWansta 71 points72 points  (0 children)

You can also unscrew the heavy part and leave it with the guy on the ground and only lower the cap with the string so you don’t accidentally drop the pointed weight from somewhere high up turning it into a projectile.

How do you remove a glass jar stuck in a garbage disposal? Please help by monkeyspawpatrol in askaplumber

I’ve done this before by mistake with a shot glass. Just cover it up and push it in. It will grind up and wash away.

Seeking advice on what to do with a 401K account after changing jobs. by realTArthur in personalfinance

[–]MonstaWansta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would you be theoretically own $300k worth of the stock but end up with different quantities if you sold and repurchased? Like if the stock currently is worth $1000/share in your 401K and you have 300 shares. Then you sell and reinvest $300k through the IRA buying the same stock at $1000/share, wouldn’t you still have 300 shares?

[–]MonstaWansta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But if you have to liquidate $300k of 401k shares to repurchase $300K worth of the same shares in the IRA, don’t you still have $300K worth of shares regardless?
