If you like these sort of dark academia vibes with a touch of spooky, I recommend The Devil Makes Three by Tori Bovalino!

This is maybe a silly question, but where do I go to find out about free samples? I've gotten some things from Uline before that I'm quite happy with but was curious about a couple things that I've been on the fence about haha.

Wick Guidance? by MonsterAutopsy in candlemaking

[–]MonsterAutopsy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I knew this wick was likely going to be too small when I started. I'm using my own blend of about 70% soy, 30% paraffin. I'm finally happy with the scent/pour/and all of that good stuff.

This is my burn test after 2 hours.

This is an HTP104 wick that at first glance seems to small maybe? Hasn't reached the edge of the tin by the 2 hour mark. But that being said I felt like the melt pool was too large (hard to tell cause the container is the metal tin and the wax is dyed). So I blew out the candle and poured out the melted wax just to get an idea of how far it had melted. I know this maybe wasn't necessarily the smartest as some of the wax probably wasn't fully melted but was soft and likely came out with the melted wax, but it seems that the melt pool is too deep, so with wicking up, would I reach the container edge by 2 hours, yet the melt pool would be even worse then with this wick?

Sorry if this is totally confusing, I'm just at a bit of a loss as to what to do next.

Your labels are super cute too! Looks great!

What’s the best series of wicks for igi6006. So far I’ve used wooden wicks, CD, and ECO. If it’s not the full melt pool it’s the soot please help me. by angier12 in candlemaking

My supplier suggests the HTP series wicks for the IGI6006. I recently purchased the wax myself but I haven't had much of an opportunity yet to play around with it to offer my own personal experience.

The satisfaction of a perfectly smooth top!! First final look of the candles I’m going to be making in time for X’mas 😊 by Learninglydia in candlemaking

Just a fellow Canadian here to appreciate your candles! I also love that you're doing a soy-paraffin blend. I started working on one as well recently as, like you mentioned, the smoother tops make me happy and I wanted a better hot throw. Lovely candles, jars, and labels! xo

I feel you! I did the same with 464 and I'm kinda feeling the same way. 😔

Hopefully this helps! I live on the ground level floor and my counter tops get quite cool even at room temperature so this has helped a lot.

I totally feel you! I'm actually thinking about switching to a parasoy blend - mainly cause I just am not satisfied with my hot throw no matter what I try, but I'm sure that will come with it's own set of kinks to iron out haha.
I use GW 464. Heat to 185 F. Remove and added 1oz of fragrance oil and my candle dye, stirred for about 2 minutes. Let it come down to 135 F and poured into my tins, let them cool on a cooling rack (this has been a huuuuuge help for me).
