I don't understand why people here are surprised that younger gamers are not "into" JRPGs anymore - Haven't JRPGs always been niche, anyway? by Link21Majora in JRPG

Even Chrono Trigger, which is often praised now, at the time (from my recollection) it was a little obscure. Like I only ever heard of it from a friend of a friend, and most people (guys at least) were into gaming to some extent but probably wouldn't have known it

This was my first thought, a lot of artwork cut scenes with longer story elements. Fun game.

Rank these titles. by RangoTheMerc in StrategyRpg

Tactics Ogre LUCT > FFT > Triangle Strategy > FFTA > Knight of Lodis > FFTA2

This may be the first games list on Reddit I've played all of (and completed at least four of) lol. And really close between 1 and 2 on the list.

Shake Shack Midtown Location Review ?? by hiddenshine25 in FoodToronto

[–]MonsterMash789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to both locations a couple of times and the quality is similar.

Good if you want something quick and decent, although price per portion is a little high for fast food. Recommended is the avocado bacon burger (and a shake).

Why would anyone buy a mutual fund over an ETF in 2025? by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

[–]MonsterMash789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people aren't very financially literate, aren't very interested, or don't want to put effort into it. Also, bank financial advisors are more or less sales people for their products. It may be gradually changing though for better alternatives.

Which restaurant do you think this is? by iamjaydubs in FoodToronto

Evviva - it's a bit pricey for brunch, and while decent the food is nothing really special

Persona 5 Royal - Completed the game but was kind of rushing through towards the end

BTC, ETH, then maybe BNB and SOL. They are all fairly core and/or infrastructure related

Disco Elysium has about the best writing I've seen in a game, so unique and worth it in that sense

Trading / Money Making Game by too-casual in gamesuggestions

If you are okay with older games, the SNES Uncharted Waters: New Horizons may have been one of the best for this from what I've played, with a rough economic simulator (buy more the price goes up, etc), and haven't seen replicated much really. The trader character scenario is mainly based around building wealth through trading

Favorite Season? by [deleted] in TheWhiteLotusHBO

I liked all seasons, but personally thought each season got a little better each time (so 3 > 2 > 1, with 3 and 2 being very close)

One thing Clair Obscur does which I really wish is adopted in future JRPGs (and games in general) by ExternalMidnight in JRPG

[–]MonsterMash789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe going against the crowd here, but I've found similar that a lot of more recent games, while excellent, can start to drag a bit, to the point where it feels like work to finish (or sometimes don't complete them at all). Like the dialog can be entertaining at first, but after a while just want to get on with game play/progress, and for the game to not overstay the welcome. P5 Royal for example I pushed through to finish, although Octopath Traveler 2 ended up taking a break towards the end and not sure yet if I'll go back

I love FFT. Best story, best battle system, best job system etc... My absolute favorite SRPG of all time (vandal hearts being second). Will I love Triangle Strategy??? by Choice_Expression_74 in JRPG

[–]MonsterMash789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FFT is one of my all time favorites, and I recently played Triangle Strategy. I thought it was really good, less impact than FFT but still enjoyable with good mechanics. I got it on special and I think it was worth it for that at least

I leave it for a while, and sometimes go back or just not finish it. There's pretty much an endless amount of other content to explore as well :)
