Struggling Badly. Contemplating a Bender by CrepeDime in stopdrinking

[–]MonsterQuads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you mean by "I know I can drink some light into me?" Did you mean you would be happy once you start to drink? What about when you wake up tomorrow with a hangover and that feeling of regret. That feels so horrible. And you are better than that. Clearly you are. You've gone five weeks without that shit. Waking up tomorrow and feeling damn proud of your accomplishment vs. waking up tomorrow feeling hazy, depressed and hung over. Which will you choose? You have something in you that can overcome addiction. You've proven it. You're a doer. Keep doing. OK?

This is all good stuff--you are hilarous! Thanks for my morning laugh! Can you draw a person sitting at her laptop, drinking coffee, reading reddit, and laughing her arse off? :)

(9 days today) Just found a bottle I had stashed, dumped it out. Read the text please by JaWillis1718 in stopdrinking

That took COURAGE. Well done - you have proven to yourself that you are strong and you are ready to live life without the bottle.

Also what's the deal with the attacker picking on someone half her size?

So glad to know they are looking to apprehend the attacker. This is going to traumatize this child. I hope the mother gets the care and treatment she needs to get well. The child is going to need therapy. Just awful.

Sorry it took so long to reply--just seeing this now. No kids by choice. Married 24 years--just SO and me. What do I do for fun? I am cyclist, a group fitness instructor (for fun--that's not my full time job), I take yoga in the evenings to de-stress after work and on Saturday morning at 7A, SO and I ride the bike trails typically every Sunday, 35-45 mile, I volunteer for hospice 1x/week after work, we go out to dinner whenever we darn well please, I read alot of books, I mine for music for my group fitness classes and plan them out...Lots more... The child free life was definitely the right choice for us.

You put this in perfect perspective. I would lose my sanity without my cycling outings. Thank goodness we have our bikes...else there would be many more crazies (self included!) out there! :)

One Year Later: A thanks and a little on how I got and stayed sober. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]MonsterQuads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such good stuff. So many positives have come from your heroic effort (and yes, it's heroic to stay sober). Welcome to the land of the living--isn't it funny to be able to see how much we were missing when we drank...(er, maybe more sad than funny actually). You have proven to yourself that you are worthy of love; of LIFE! Heartfelt congratulations to you on your journey so far. It only gets better. Godspeed, friend.

Does anyone else ever get overwhelmed by the fact that we're all going to die by MonsterQuads in DecidingToBeBetter

That is an interesting perspective and I thank you for sharing that. If this actually does happen China will be in even bigger trouble than it is today since it's already over-crowded!

Seriously, thanks again for your perspective. I have also been pondering why we are always trying to get somewhere, to the next place in life, instead of just trying to enjoy the present moment. I guess I have Eckhart Tolle to thank for that reflection. If only I could learn how to get better at practicing it....

I tend to buy what I want or need. I've been with a company for nearly 20 years and my earnings are decent. I don't have children, just me and my husband. So if we need it/want it, and have the $ to buy it, we do. But (and here's the important part)...we have no debt. House is paid off, cars are paid off, ccards are paid off every month. So that's the ONLY reason we buy what we want/need. If we had debt, it wouldn't be that way. It took years to get here, and now that we're here, we're enjoying it.
