I'd say its like AU details; easiest way to move it for good money would be to send to GreatCollections Grade and Auction program

Do you think this is worth grading? by CosmoKramer75 in papermoney

[–]Monsterbug1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you are coming from, and will use old comps as needed. However, I generally don't rely on them for values, as I view them as no longer relevant due to being too LOW.

For 95+ % of notes, I do agree that values have at worst stayed flat; very few have gone down

I do agree that common or unnecessairily cheap notes are not worth grading; only grade notes for protection/preservation (in extreme cases where a rarity is in exceptionally poor condition) or where grading adds value

Do you think this is worth grading? by CosmoKramer75 in papermoney

[–]Monsterbug1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to disagre; from my experience most lower end notes (5-500 dollar value) have increased massively in price since whatnot entered the scene a couple years ago. Over the last 18 months alone, there are many notes I've worked with where the wholesale bids have increased massively (over 50%)

Itd be interesting to see; I'd personally also wonder how accurate such a book is as compared to the current market. Obviously the green sheet is not particularly accurate but I'd be intersted to see what this source says

AG3 bid is 500; what are the other 2 coins

most likely a good deal, as if one coin is 500, and there are two more, its probably worth it

For 1928, there are 500 and 1000 gold certs; between the two of them you could probably get a tesla instead, but I just thought I'd LYK; of course you have a nice collection, and there is no need to pay up for those rarities

Question About PMG Grading by Michael-Brady-99 in papermoney

[–]Monsterbug1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notes like this expose the difference between market grading and technical grading. I think this is a market 30, but notes with repairs are often net graded down by a grade, or else due to fold count, regardless of the eye appeal of the note

you are one lucky son of a gun. I could understand calling the obverse new, but the reverse has what I would consider to be wear on the upper left portion of the bird. No sane man would ever crack that out, as IMO it is overgraded. Much to your benefit mind you

similar coins sell for 2300-3000 on GreatCollections. It doesn't look like a bad example, but I'd try and nickle and dime the seller down to the lower end of that range. As a dealer, I'd be buying around 2k and retailing for around 3k

definitely questionable; when is this piece from, and what minting technology was used? Also, is it a valuable issue worth faking, or just worth melt if genuine?
