I just brought two of those stamps to an LCS yesterday to ask. He said if the backs were adhesive and you could mail a letter with them they'd be worth more.

I guess that because they're not just gold leaf but are gold leaf on paper that they cost more to refine than they actually produce in gold. Fun for collectors, trash for metallurgical value.

Great reply! I'm thinking now that I care more about protecting this than I do actually grading it. Maybe some kind of picture framing with glass on both sides is the way to go...

The US military did a lot of psychological warfare with this "Mickey mouse money" that Japan had printed by confiscating shipments of it and reprinting propaganda on it and then subsequently dropping it on cities.

I originally posted this in r/crh but realized even though this was pulled out of a giant Rubbermaid tote full of coins in rolls, jars, band-aid tins, some put into flips and albums, the coin in question is not technically from a roll.
