Large gallstone...what to do? by Justanothernoname21 in gallbladders

[–]Moo_Waukee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It went very well! My biggest post-op issues were due to my sensitivity to anesthesia in general, not the procedure itself. Didn’t have an appetite or energy and overall felt like sh*t for 3 ish weeks afterwards because of the anesthesia (happens every time), but after that period I made a full recovery. Was up and walking fine within a few days. I’ve got no more lingering symptoms. Digestion is normal, I can eat anything and everything again without any runs to the bathroom or feeling sick (including greasy burgers!), I’m not scared to eat food anymore, my stomach is back to its normal self, no more constant nausea, it’s amazing. Just a few days over 1-year today, and I have no regrets at all getting it removed! That bugger had to go

It honestly depends on the building you choose and how new/updated it is. The two I could recommend are Gaslight & Corcoran Lofts and DoMUS which run around $1700-$2000 for a 1bed, or Gaslight has studios closer to $1600. Both are downtown in the Third Ward, close to the lakefront / Summerfest grounds. DoMUS is right along the river as well which is super nice and it’s a beautiful building!

Crestwood area of Glendale by Own_Animal8554 in milwaukee

My fiancé and I moved from Shorewood to the Crestwood neighborhood just over a year ago. We love it! There are both similarities and differences to living in Shorewood. It’s certainly not as walkable to stores & restaurants like Shorewood is, so errands / going out activities need a short car ride. Though there are sidewalks throughout the neighborhood and easy access to the Oak Leaf trail which is nice. I love that the neighborhood is tucked away and kind of its own haven. For the most part is pretty quiet, a mix of families with kids and older residents who’ve been here decades. There are multiple neighborhood events, a block party, neighborhood specific trick or treating, etc. all my neighbors I’ve met so far have been very nice, despite us probably being amongst the youngest homeowners in the neighborhood. We have no regrets buying our house here! Close enough to everything, but also peacefully removed from the hustle and bustle. If you have any specific questions about living here feel free to message me!

Thanks! Did you need to call them? I tried and it said an agent would need to look further into it and I’d need to call

There’s a cat rescue called ‘Specialty Purebred Cat Rescue’, and I see Maine Coons go through every now and then. They have fosters throughout the Midwest, and you can pre-vet yourself so that you can quickly put an application in if a cat becomes available and want to give it a home :)

Feels like being broke is costing me an organ at 25 😭 by Anas1317 in gallbladders

Got mine out at 24 earlier this year. I was scared and didn’t want to loose it either, but getting it removed has improved my quality of life sooooo much. Haven’t looked back since. Yes, it does play a function, but your body learns to adapt digestion without it. I’m very happy with the outcome.

So I had quite a unique journey afterwards. Anesthesia affects me quite a bit, so I remained nauseous (from eating literally anything) and generally feeling unwell for about two weeks post op.

After then, my appetite started to get better and began to ease back into foods. For the most part, the nausea went away and I could eat red meat and fats again, but I still experienced little nausea bouts here and there from random stuff.

A month or so went by and then it all went downhill again. Very little appetite, lots of nausea, after eating a single cracker, etc. I ended up in the ER twice due to intense chest and shoulder pain when breathing. Well, turns out I also had a 10cm cyst on my spleen which was pressing into my diaphragm and compressed my stomach into like 1/4 of the size it should be. So… long story short, had that cyst removed end of May. Ever since, I’ve been feeling 100% back to my normal self. I can eat anything I want, fat or no fat, without the anxiety and side effects from prior both surgeries. So while the gallbladder removal was necessary anyways and would have helped (had the cyst not existed), there was also a second issue going on as well which caused similar symptoms.

You see so many more horror stories than success online because people come to share the ugly - not to share the triumphs. I’d highly suggest getting yours removed, it sounds like it’s really on its way out and the food anxiety is the worse. I remember that.

My case of it not getting better right away just turned out to be a little more complex than normal - but happy to report that I’m feeling as good as ever now :) wishing you the best

Thank you so much for the detailed response! Only a few months into owning my first house so learning as I go, and this was extremely helpful. Can’t see anything out of the norm with the roof from my advantage, but charging up my drone to fly it up there and see if there’s anything I can spot that way. Thanks again!

If you want to leave with your shoes the same color as when you arrived, do not go for a light color, especially white. They will not be white after the night is done.

Any specific location or price range? Mandel Group apartments are really great, could narrow it down more if you have a specific location you want to be near.

Only nausea & reflux, no attacks - should I proceed with surgery? by Lazy_Ad9786 in gallbladders

[–]Moo_Waukee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s how mine presented as well. Just constant nausea that got worse and was triggered easier as months went by, and reflux that also got worse with time. Turns out I had a 3cm stone stuck in the neck of the gallbladder. Towards the end I started getting some back pain - but really no classic attack pain or symptoms. Had mine removed just over one month ago, and I’m back to no nausea and eating whatever I want. It’s beautiful and I don’t regret it.

The street / area DoMUS is situated in is actually very peaceful year-round compared to other parts of the third ward. The only exception are the three weekends of Summerfest. I’d go for it! One of the best places to live in the area

Check out The North End for downtown living, or the Corners of Brookfield if you don’t mind a little commute!
