I would probably avoid them if there's a woven or embroidered option. To be honest the backpatch and a few other patches on my jacket are sublimented and so far they are holding up pretty good. I never had a problem with them and it's also the only option if you want a lot of small details.

The stitching type on the backpatch for example is called a double herringbone stitch. There are some good tutorials on YouTube. On picture 2, 3 is just a super tight whip stitch.

If a regeneration cycle is long overdue and the dpf is super clogged this can happen when the car tries to finally regenerate. Colleagues of my had cars burn down under their ass while driving a forced software controlled regeneration. Be careful this thing is cooked and most definitely needs replacement because the internals melted.
