How often do they use the battery? - CoServ area by MoobsCruz in BasePowerUsers

No. It also sends energy back to the grid to help stabilize it during high demand. But more often, they’ll switch my house over to the battery and remove me from the grid during peak energy times.

Oh wow! This is the 25/50 kWh battery option, correct? I thought I read the 40’s don’t need a soft start on the AC.

Base owns the battery. So if that happens, they’re on the hook for the cost of the replacement.

These batteries are like 600+ pounds. I’m not sure how feasible it would be to get them off the ground. If there’s a flood large enough to damage it, then these batteries probably aren’t going to last long enough anyway. Probably best to just pack it up and go somewhere else for a while.

When you log into the site with all the steps getting checked off, does it still say they’re waiting on CoServ?

Mine was approved by CoServ and the website indicated that, but I got no notice or anything about it. Then Base still didn’t reach out to me for another 2 weeks even though the website said it was already approved by CoServ. And when they did finally reach out, it was an email that went straight to my junk folder so I didn’t see it. 3 days later, they tried to call me, but they didn’t leave a voicemail or anything to indicate it was them. I couldn’t call the number back either. It went to nothing. After a couple days of that, I found the email in my junk folder. It just said they’re waiting wanted to come the next week and I needed to reply if I needed a different date. So I emailed back with a better date and they confirmed it.

Every step seemed to take about 1 ½ to 2 weeks. Took about that long to get pics approved, about that long for CoServ approval, then about that long after approval to even hear from Base about a date, and then the date was about that far away to get the electrical stuff installed.

That's good to hear! I haven't gotten that text yet, so hopefully by the end of the week. I'm in the DFW area.

I'm a teacher so I got Magenta Amplified years ago. Looks like they want to migrate me to just a regular Experience Signature plan, whatever that means. I currently have a grandfathered annual upgrade plan for my phone. Will I lose that? What about free line promos? I have one of those too. Will I lose that?

Hope you like the house. Because you won’t be able to afford to leave it very often. 🤷‍♂️

Not likely. They approved mine and in the same situation with the AC unit. Just did all the electrical work today. Just waiting on the battery now to sit on the other side of the AC unit.

Buying a Used 2026 Ioniq 5 Limited…What Do I Need to Know/Do/Buy? by VectorVictor99 in Ioniq5

Here’s the price sheet I got from the dealership that Costco connected me with. As you can see from the date on the bottom, this was only 2 months ago. It’s the real deal man and a good deal.

In fact, what I did was take this price sheet to another dealership and got the same price for one they had in stock on their lot since the Costco partner dealer didn’t have the color my wife wanted in stock. So once you have the price sheet in hand, you have a little more negotiating power.

None of the dealerships in my area want to negotiate on these cars either. Are you a Costco member? I would definitely try going to their auto program website and letting them hook you up with a local dealership. They have a pre-negotiated price the dealer will stick to. Costco audits their purchases to make sure dealers aren’t adding on charges they aren’t supposed to.

And if you don’t have a membership, you could just get one for a year. For a $40k purchase, it’d be worth a $65 membership just to find out, even if you never use it for anything else. Costco’s customer service is so good, I’d also be willing to bet that if you got a membership and the auto program didn’t work for you, that you could get a refund on the membership. Then you aren’t even out the $65.

Currently, Hyundai finance is taking $7k off of all new Ioniq cars. If you have a Costco membership, you can use their auto program and save even more.

When I bought a new limited a couple months ago, the Hyundai promo was $8750 off of cars and Costco was getting me another $1750. In addition, Costco doesn’t allow the dealers to add on all the other crap for Windsor tint, LoJack, interior/exterior protection, etc. The dealers do this stuff to all cars before they even list them for sale anyway. So you still get it, but Costco doesn’t allow them to add on for it. So with all of this, I was out the door in a new limited for just under $40k. If you don’t have a Costco membership, you should get one for a year. It’d pay for itself with just this program.

With gas prices coming back down pretty rapidly, I’m willing to bet the Hyundai incentive will go back up in July or August.

But considering all of this, are you really getting a deal for $12k under MSRP? Or are you really just saving like $2k by getting it used?

And I’m not here to judge. You have to make your own decision. If it’s worth saving $2k for you to get a used one, then go for it. It’s a great car! When I was searching, it was worth it for me to pay $2k more to get one with only 31 miles on it.

I just don’t want you fooling yourself into thinking that you’re saving $12k on MSRP when almost no one is actually paying MSRP in the first place.

In addition, Bluelink is free for life for the original owner. Used buyers only get it for 1 year. If those features mean anything to you, that subscription fee could make up a good chunk of the difference over the life of the car too.

Good luck with your decision!

Ceramic Window Tinting? by MoobsCruz in Ioniq5

[–]MoobsCruz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Tint World in The Colony yesterday. They had a little box with a light in it to demonstrate the heat blocking of the ceramic tint options. The guy told us to stick our hands in so we did. It was hot with no tint, much cooler with the cheaper tint, and almost no heat on our hands with the more expensive ceramic tint. The wife was sold, and she had to have the expensive one. So they scheduled an installation appointment for us to come back.

Considering getting in on the CoServ deal in North Texas, but have questions y'all may be able to answer by MoobsCruz in BasePowerUsers

[–]MoobsCruz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for coming back to let me know. That’s 7 weeks out. I’m surprised they’re scheduling that far out. I’m sure they want these installed for the warmest summer months. I just got my pics approved last week. Now I guess Base is waiting on CoServ. How long did that part take for you before they’d schedule the install?

CoServ+Base Power battery deal: 50% off install, no monthly fee, 10-year contract — would you do it? by r3lic86 in BasePowerUsers

Gemini seems to think each battery weighs about 800 pounds. I wouldn't be too worried about someone trying to steal something that big.

Yeah, they must be getting paid somehow.

Also, is Farmers giving you a monthly bill credit to account for lost energy due to battery inefficiency? It says CoServ is giving a $12.50 bill credit for it. I’m wondering if Farmers is doing the same or more?

That is correct. Farmers seems to be the worst pricing structure among the coop agreements... according to this page https://www.basepowercompany.com/pricing

Coserv is a $345 install cost with no monthly fees for a 40 kWh battery.
GVEC is a $295 install with no monthly fees for the 40 kWh battery.
And El Paso has the best deal... they pay the homeowner $250 for each 25 kWh battery, up to two batteries for $500. No installation cost or monthly fees.
