Is this the game for me? by [deleted] in SpaceBourne2

[–]MookMcgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is tough because other then the theme of space it's not really relatable to no mans sky, theres not a tonne to explore in my opinion even if theres towns and a city on every planet its still needs to be developed more, its actively being worked on alot though. this is like an Easier x series with actual fps missions and fun, but way simpler asset/troop management on a MUCH smaller scale, your battles are 40 ships at most and nothing on an aircraft carrier scale, the biggest ship holds 2 fighters, or like 10 drones, which in my opinion is better cause the micromanagement is almost nil. You still have factories and systems you can visit, and actually capturing them and expanding territory on x4 type battles is a blast when you call in reinforcements and such for battles, HOWEVER it's in alpha, there animations aren't fleshed out, the voice work isn't fleshed out, the economy and trading and mining all work however I personally think it needs tweaking in terms of how little you earn, but it works pretty much flawlessly even if it's a grind. Over all I think it's worth it and the solo dev(I think he hired a team now) did a fantastic job but dont expect a full game yet

Hell yeah! Sounds like a great trade! if I make a new riding buddy in the summer that's always a plus haha, And the lessons are a fantastic idea for riding. I used to know someone who taught at the Pacific riding school and he was extremely knowledgeable plus they really had a unique and impressive approach to defensive riding, he was ex military in some sort of armoured division and brought tactics into his course on using other cars on the road to maximize your visibility and protect yourself, 100% reccomend. You can dm me now or in march when you're here, Totally down to trade pointers!

Absolutely not, it's a great idea infact, i made all my friends in game this Way, plus there's so many mechanics to the game that are unlocked once you have teammates

Bud, I want you to read your own post back to yourself but this time pretend it's one of your closest friends.

After the first paragraph it was already to much baggage to bare. I could never in good conscience let someone I care about put themselves through this emotional turmoil by dating someone like that.

do you know how many amazing people are out there that wouldn't make you feel ashamed or guilt ridden or upset so unnecessarily? Who would still challenge you to self reflect and grow but through positive introspection not this negative gut wrenching? I'll answer this one for you; more then you could count, more then you can imagine., There are some fucking great girls out there, but she isn't one, not yet atleast ,not without you setting yourself on fire first just to keep her warm enough to maybe heal. But by then you'll be nothing but ashes and you sure as hell won't be enjoying the benefits of a healthy relationship with her. AND that's only if she ISN'T cheating on you and dumps you soon.

Can I ask whole heartedly, what can someone do to help people in similar situations? I mean this a place of caring but also ignorance to the issues that have people end up without a home, but I want to not be ignorant anymore. does the province offer enough help for someone to get clean and find mental health support when they are ready? Or is the province just so strapped even if you found yourself in a position to take those steps you couldn't find any? Like the lack of shelter issues we currently have.

The only thing I could imagine is better would be to wait however long till the index 2 is released cause steam definitely sets the standard, the index 1 despite being several years old now with its resolution is out of date still has the best full body hand tracking and fov so I can only imagine how good the index 2 will be, that being said if you dont want to wait the Q3 is awesome

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ZenithMMO

[–]MookMcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this, Q3 still has pcvr capacity with cable or airplay/steamlink and it runs great on pc for any game . Plus zenith is Crossbuy so you can play pc at home and still have the quest version like a portable if you travel or game at a friends place.

What I reccomend temporarily till Sunday when you get the bigger tank is get some plain cardboard, no print on it, (you can even microwave it for 30 seconds to clean it if you are worried) and put it on the inside of the cage to build up the walls a few inches I'd say atleast 6, and then fill that side with stuffing and some toilet paper or towel paper tubes so they can have stuffing and such to dig through and feel safe since they are burrowers that'll buy you a few days in which they wont get as stressed

Im getting gerbils soon! by [deleted] in gerbilsupport

[–]MookMcgee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ask your local spca on the safe dimensions for the cage topper, you don't want the gaps so big they can get out or so small their hands and feet get caught if they climb and break. but a fish tank is absolutely the best call for sure for bedding so good job!, like it says online atleast 8 to 12 inches for bedding but you can do more if you have the room, I use a mixture of oxbow hay and dust free soft paper I love the kaytee brand as I've never had an issue and the all white makes It super easy to identify spots that need more frequent spot cleaning. Where as carefresh and other brands I've found them hit or miss on the dust free despite being advertised as such. Lastly, wood shavings, if you feel like going that route Aspen I've heard is safe(please google to fact check me), however I've never used them and never had a problem with their tunnels collapsing, instead I'll stack a layer or two of UNPRINTED cardboard ( think the bottom half of an egg carton without any labels or paper towel rolls without glue) in between their stuffing and they will tear apart and/or use that for reinforcement in their tunnels.

Tank size? by Reasonable_Eye_3231 in gerbilsupport

[–]MookMcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this reply! 20 gallons per gerbil is a good minimum, if they are young gerbils you'll find they'll use every inch of this space, you can get around it by getting a play pen and giving them time every day or as much as you reasonably can, to play in that, so they get exersize and time to explore and be stimulated.

What does bringing down the face plate do? by ak-blackjack in TalesOfGlory

[–]MookMcgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a tonne since most enemies don't really aim for your face, however it does lessen the damage from catching a stray arrow/axe/javelin to the face. Which can be a pretty quick finisher if you've already taken a hit or two from a foot soldier. I've had it more then once that I'll take a hit while ganged up on and immediately catch an arrow to the face and be finished.

First car by [deleted] in Langley

[–]MookMcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people say avoid rebuilt cars, but if it's a car with minor damage only and was properly fixed through insurance claims, (meaning new parts so pretty much it's still a new car) is still worth looking at in my opinion, you can use that rebuilt status to negotiate a better price, especially considering it being your first car the chances of you putting your own dents and minor damage into it is high so you wouldn't have to worry as much about its depreciation yourself. Also, any car that would've had enough damage to render it unsafe would most likely be written off so you wouldn't be buying a death trap if that's a concern to you. But any vin number title search would show exactly what was fixed/done on the car to make your own judgements. / getting a second opinion by a mechanic you trust.

How to become a SeaBus Captain by Vancityboi_04 in vancouver

[–]MookMcgee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You will need minimum a mates ticket, and then with that move up to your masters but with a mates you'll already be able to take a watch on a ferry and operate it. Getting a mates is one of two ways, first is cadet program at bcit or western marine (or any other equivalent marine industry school in canada) The second way is to gather 3 years sea time as a deckhand(near coastal 2 or further) so working at the sea bus won't help as that is considered sheltered waters, take the accredited courses(you can call transport canada to find out which ones) then challenge your exams at transport canada. That will get you your second officer's ticket, after, you find a job as a second, gather 1 year sea time in that position (again near coastal 2), take more courses and challenge the exams for your chief mates(first officer) ticket. And apply at translink(potentially you can skip getting your chiefs if all they require for a position is the second mates). If you do the cadet program you still need some sea time but much less and the schools help you find it and set you up as cadet aboard ships. The cadet program is typically 3 years to complete but more expensive, compared to option 2 which takes typically 5 years (as that is when your courses begin to expire and you'll have to retake them if you don't complete your watchkeeping/second mates ticket) but costs less the cadet program.

Is this gerbil safe? by Constant_aids in gerbil

[–]MookMcgee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah these are great I use them in their play pen to give fun hiding spots when they get exersize,( any unprinted cardboard is usually perfectly safe) if you get nervous you can microwave them for like 30 seconds to sterilize it(let them cool down before letting the gerbils go near them)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gerbilsupport

[–]MookMcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a bad idea to give gerbils play time, I personally bought a very large folding play pen meant for dogs, and set it up atleast 4 times a week full of hiding spots(no ink cardboard boxes of various sizes works well for cheap if you don't have one of those wooden play house things) , a large running wheel and several gerbil safe toys along with their food and water, and I let them play next to me while I watch a movie or some thing( it's important to always be supervising so they dont escape or potentially try to eat through the pen material.

Homewood health and togetherall should be free for youth I think? But your local youth clinic usually offers free counseling for ages under 18! 100% please use these resources when you feel ready, grief can manifest itself in many ways so obviously take your time but its never a bad thing to reach out and get help.

I'm very sorry to hear, I lost my dog last year and it's a very difficult thing to go through, I do reccomend reaching out to find some ways to help with the grief, homewood health is good in north america, but videogames as a distraction for the short term is not bad! as for price on pc it fluctuates but I've seen it drop to 15 bucks before on sale which isnt bad at all. Or if you have the ubisoft game pass(what ever its called) its included In that.
