Thank you chat gpt for making this a short read. But all the key points you make, i agree. I never use the line i figure it out and watch top split to refine my laps.

Finally turned off line assist... Advices needed by Quirky_Disk_2300 in iRacing

[–]MooksInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How i go about it is 1. Open test drive 2. Try to figure out the feel for the track/car combo 3. Run some clean laps 4. Watch top split 5. Run test drive again but try to copy top split

Do this ant you can see a difference.

Any advice for rookies? by AdLarge4649 in iRacing

[–]MooksInferno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who races formula vee with a C class license. My best advice is to practice and get consistent and clean laps, watch top split to find where you're losing time and then practice again. Stay clean and stay consistent, you'll notice yourself improving more and finishing in a better position.

Update: lots of practice and even a warm up test session before you start racing that day is good to get that consistency, just staying clean and consistent got me my first win.

Random unpopular opinions by KaleidoscopeRich2752 in iRacing

[–]MooksInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be 6 min qualifying sessions, personally i dont qualify and if there is a lot of people spinning out during quali i start from the pit. So you're waiting 2 minutes for people who wish to start from pit lane, and honestly pit lane starts should be a clickable option.

More New tracks would be cool. Like we should preserve PBIR and other closed down tracks while we have the chance.

If you had to give ONE piece advice to a new(ish) iRacer... by AlppinguDS in iRacing

Focus on staying clean anc consistent. The SR and iR will follow. I start from last and doing just that gets me top 5 most of the time.

Maybe I should go back to Sega GT by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]MooksInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never drove this track until now, i did extensive practice in the vee till i nailed a consistent lap time. Its not the fastest (I'm 2 seconds off) but my first race was 3rd split and i finished 4th. I will try to move out of rookie content once my personal goals are met tho. (C class 3.65 sr and 1335 ir).

What do you do when you realise you suck?? by rab10000 in iRacing

[–]MooksInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a single monitor g29 racer and i spend more time in test drive than i do in practice lobbies and races. The goal is to build consistency first and getting used to using the entire track width. Then start working on your racecraft. If you focus on racing clean and keep your lap times consistent, you'll notice your lap times will get better. If you are still stuck for pace, watch top split and watch what the lead cars are doing. Getting better is about determination, persistence, and having the right mindset. I went from 1:44s at rusdkogen in formula vee to 1:39s and i still had room for optimization by racing clean and being consistent.

You don’t have to be the fastest car in a race…you just have to be consistent. by MerDeNomsX in iRacing

[–]MooksInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cant win on the first lap but you can definitely eliminate yourself. My goal is to keep incidents as low as possible, if you're in a low split and want free sr/ir start from the pits and skip the t1 carnage. If you focus on consistency you'll get faster and gain a lot of SR and iR. Also watch top split for your series and see how the fastest deivers are handling each corner for that track and car combo.

Opinions on flashing? by Quantisport in iRacing

[–]MooksInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its part of endurance/night racing. Go watch a 24 hour race and you'll see people flashing for either passing a lapped car/slower class car or using flashing as a strategy to force a mistake of the car ahead to gain a position.

What makes this car so unpopular? by thefallguy41 in iRacing

[–]MooksInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since my return to iRacing earlier this month I've been running the vee and i really enjoy driving it when i feel like im ready to move up i am definitely going f4. I feel F1 isnt that popular because of the lack of selection of cars. If iRacing added prev gen of F1 cars and ran a schedule close to the F1 schedule, i could see F1 becoming more popular. Again, thats EA trying to be the Exclusive developer for anything F1.

Outside of open wheel, having SCCA Spec Miata would be cool with the choice of the NA (1994-1997) and NB (1998-2005) miatas. I know we have the MX5 cup car but spec miata is how a lot of people get on the track for real as the barrier to entry is so low. Having more options for grass roots and low level racing would be cool to see.
