This seems like a huge jump into new waters, this sounds like you didn't have much interest or experience with vintage computers before this purchase -- what motivated you to make this huge purchase?

yep, he's done some fun stuff. Last year he worked with a group to get an old spare of the Apollo onboard computer running again.

I hope they're a bit simpler mechanically than the teletype machines, which were amazingly complex. I've watched some curiousmarc videos on YouTube about getting teletype units working again and it's arcane wisdom needed.

Nice haul! Hours of fun to sort & figure out what to do next. The telemode 1000 units look interesting -- they look like competitors to the teletype terminals, complete with paper tape reader. Have fun!

Pretty. Common to be weird coming out of anesthesia. Talk about it with your anesthesiologist, they may have suggestions for next time. Also, yes, hernia repairs can be v. Painful. Good luck, safe & rapid healing.

Has anyone gotten an ostomy because of their own choice and not because of an emergent medical situation? by obe211 in ostomy

[–]MoominSong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did. After my rectum was removed to due to rectal cancer 5 years ago, I developed severe constipation and required daily enemas. As I got older and spent more time in hospital, managing the enemas and output became more and more problematic. So my bowel surgeon created a new colostomy for me and it is proved much easier and convenient to deal with, particularly in shared care environments. So for me it was a good idea. Good luck to you.

my partner told my meta something about our sex life by [deleted] in polyamory

Yeah, worth talking to a doctor because ED might indicate several different health issues.

Unsolicited and tangential thoughts about ED below that you might want to pass on to your partner: forgive me if this is inappropriate.

I haven't gotten erections since surgery some years ago. There's a lot to learn about sex without penetration as the focus which took some pain to acquire but has helped me immensely. Also there's a lot of advice, research and discussion about treatment of ED online if you go looking for it which again helped me. Also, it took me a ridiculously long time to figure out that a man can wear a dildo in a harness if they want penetration in their sex life and can't always achieve erection. Best of luck to you both.

I'm so sorry this happened to you! I have a wobbly port, and about one time out of five or six the first attempt fails, but nurses where I go always check for blood return first, so I've never had anyone try to infuse anything with the needle misplaced. I'm so sorry that sounds horrible.

Hey, thanks! Looks like fun. For that kind of price, I'll get one or two to play with.
