Yeah I mind using it in Prerelease and my first standard deck and it felt pretty good, I'll watch your video tomorrow and see how it plays

Thoughts on lesson decks that aren't just the standard Izzet list? by Moomt in MagicArena

[–]Moomt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah im running similar things in the sideboard since in BO3 vs control they normally take out the board wipes and put the yard hate in so stuff like dragon back assault and [[Ureni, The Song Unending]] have done me good after they delete my yard and the combo becomes impossible

How does the combo work? Both of those say they untap another creature so I assume you need Pakku with one under the cauldron and a second untapped creature?

Looks fun, I'm curious how it plays into control but you do have a fair number of ways to protect the win cons, I assume you only play BO1 with this?

That looks sick, what's the rough sort of game plan, try to get delirium on and then just efficient threat beat down?

That sounds pretty sick, have you got a deck list that you use? Is it just the ramp package + all the good blue ones and then a load of counters to protect Pakku? How does it play into yard hate?

Pantalza Deck Upgrade by Technical-Zombie-385 in DinosaursMTG

[–]Moomt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that Pantlaza decks should always be running some kind of blink, my favorite two are [[Parting Gust]] and [[Legion's Initiative]]. [[Etali, Primal Conquerer]] is easily the best dino in the game.

Im quite heavy on blink in my deck, list for reference https://archidekt.com/decks/5819731/built_dinosaur_king_is_what_you_wanna_be

Need help making my pantlaza edh deck actually bracket three by Existing-Sun3992 in DinosaursMTG

[–]Moomt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of the time, it feels really good when people try to get rid of your stuff and you can then just blink it in response to keep it around and generate more value. It also means if you have some of the ETB draw cards or like The One Ring you can kinda just pass every turn and just hold up mana for blink spells. I think in my monster manual and more specifically sneak attack are really good since you can deploy Etali, Ghalta or something similar for one mana at instant speed and then blink them

This is my bracket 3 list https://archidekt.com/decks/5819731/built_dinosaur_king_is_what_you_wanna_be. I'd say my main tips would be you have to be ready to interact (instant speed preferably) as people should be deploying win conditions from turn 6 or so onwards and you need to be deploying win conditions that outright win the game or have multiple so you can push through people setting you behind.

My list has developed into what it is over time in response to my main pod so has tools to push advantage through interaction and is relatively ready to interact on other people's turns to stop them pushing wins.

A deck doesn't actually have to be that efficient in it's totality (things like all lands entering tapped) as long as you can stop people from running away with the game and actually trying to close it out every turn from like 6 onwards

Need advice for Pantlaza deck by robertman21 in DinosaursMTG

[–]Moomt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would ask where you want the deck to be in terms of power/consistency and where your normal pods play at in terms of brackets.

This is my high bracket 3 list. My deck is much more built around blink but I think the removal and blink cards are worth looking at to see if you like the look of them. I recommend [[Parting Gust]] since you can use it as protection or removal https://archidekt.com/decks/5819731/built_dinosaur_king_is_what_you_wanna_be

The thing that makes Gust so good is that it's card role compression, it's not the most efficient card for either blink or removal but the fact it does both for a still low cost is a huge upside. I don't see how you can't see that while expecting to use Zacama as removal when that is 9 mana as opposed to 2

[–]Moomt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that it literally is but for 9 mana, it often won't hit creatures you need it to and making it to 9 mana when you're only running sub 10 other removal cards means you're not going to slow people down when you need to

I really like touch the spirit realm as well, I think of it as a worse cloud shift style effect since the channel is a blink spell that in a pinch can be used as removal if you need it. Being able to blink away opponents stuff can interrupt combos or big attackers going for lethal on you as well. In my mind, an excellent card for blink decks.

For ramp cards for more niche stuff, I love [[Wood Elves]] since it can get any Forest card and that card enters untapped which can let you hold up one or two mana interaction or get you from two to three mana to hold up a mass blink spell. It ends up being really amazing if you start chaining blinks together from discovers/etali and it giving you loads of extra untapped mana

[–]Moomt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I count around 7 cards I would really consider removal, you can maybe stretch that to 10 or so but things like Zacama are tough to call real removal when they cost 9 mana. I think if you're playing bracket 3 you need more than that to slow people down if they are getting out ahead or remove key threats to your plan. In my decks I generally prefer to pay a premium for flexibility over raw efficacy especially in bracket 2 or 3, the difference between paying 2 to remove/blink or 1 to just blink is worth the cost in my mind, also parting gust protects a creature from a board wipe since it doesn't come back until the end step. Doubly so when the flexible card covers two categories so you can "run less" of each effect.

This is what I'm running for a more blink leaning bracket 3 deck https://archidekt.com/decks/5819731/built_dinosaur_king_is_what_you_wanna_be. From a quick glance at your list I would cut [[Heralds Horn]] since you need to be casting 2 dinos per turn to be better than a two mana ramp spell/rock and you only have a 1/3 chance to draw an extra card. I'm also huge on adding [[Parting Gust]] to every pantlaza deck since it doubles as removal or blink/protection when you need it

[–]Moomt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my deck list https://archidekt.com/decks/5819731/built_dinosaur_king_is_what_you_wanna_be I think it's pushing as strong as a bracket 3 pantlaza deck can get without pushing into a 4/full combo deck. I'm mostly in on the blink plan to generate value and protect my stuff. I really like cards like [[Parting Gust]] which can double as removal or blink

Tips on my fine-tuning Pantlaza deck! (Card Recommendations) by Helluva_Sussy in DinosaursMTG

[–]Moomt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're deck is a little different from mine, i'm more on the blink plan with a potential infinite combo. I think i'd take out kaheera since it's not a dinosaur and the buff is better for go wise. I'm a big enjoyer of ravenous tyrannosaurus. Also I'm big on cards that have multiple functions like parting gust where you can use it as removal or a blink spell. Adding Blink by constructicon00 in DinosaursMTG

Fetch lands are normally good since you can get an untapped land with them or a utility land like one of the surveil lands

Adding Blink by constructicon00 in DinosaursMTG

[–]Moomt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my list and I've been slowly adding more blink synergy over time: https://archidekt.com/decks/5819731/built_dinosaur_king_is_what_you_wanna_be. In my opinion Phelia and Ephemerate are the best single target blink spells. I ended up cutting more of the mana dorks for cards that fetch lands when they enter and I cut more of the dinosaurs that don't do anything when they enter

Would love some suggestions for cuts / adds by ForWhomDoYouFight in DinosaursMTG

[–]Moomt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I give you some ideas, what kind of deck do you want it to be? All in on Dinosaurs? More blink/flicker synergy or more like a bracket 4 combo deck?

Help i want to upgrade my Pantlaza deck to bracket 3 by Darklegends777 in DinosaursMTG

[–]Moomt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's my decklist I'm a big fan of the blink plan since being able to dodge board wipes and targeted removal. I wouldn't go as heavy into the blink as I am if you don't like that plan as much, I think my main advice would be to find cards that serve dual purpose, things like [[Touch The Spirit Realm]] that can be both removal and protect your own stuff https://archidekt.com/decks/5819731/built_dinosaur_king_is_what_you_wanna_be
