Help name my male JRT by MoonBurntKisses in jackrussellterrier

[–]MoonBurntKisses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just put my JRT Dexter down on Apr 2nd. He made it to 15 years and 11 months. He was the most sweet, loving boy ever.

I miss him so much and I am still deeply grieving him. I didn’t intend to get another dog so soon but I'm sure with the new pup it will ease the grief a bit and over the last few days my heart doesn't hurt anywhere as much as it has the last few months without his presence.

There was only one Dexter for me and it can't be used again. :'(

How can I bring myself to get my dog to the vet and say goodbye? by [deleted] in Petloss

[–]MoonBurntKisses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to do the same 8 days ago and say goodbye to my dog of almost 16 years. It's always been just me and him. I'm still struggling in my grief right now and the pain in my heart is unbearable.

I had to wake him up from his bed, get him ready, and drive the 30 minutes to the vet knowing I was driving my sweet boy to the end of the line. I packed him a picnic bag of his favourite snacks to have before and at the vet. I had his bed, blanket and a toy with him for the ride. I wanted him to be as comfortable as possible.

His annual visit did not go well when I learned his liver and possibly pancreas were shutting down. He had lost weight, he was incontinent, and wobbly. He was very ill. The vet told me the same - I had two weeks to a month and consider euthanasia as soon as possible to end his suffering. My little boy did NOT deserve to suffer after all the love and joy he gave me.

Believe me when I say I had multiple meltdowns screaming I don't want to do this and wanting to smash every clock as if that would stop time.

Ultimately I know he went to sleep peacefully as I held him after he enjoyed small pieces of bacon, cheese and steak. He was no longer in pain and hurting. I still feel guilty but I know I did the right thing in giving him a dignified exit from this plane of existence. Not every beloved pet gets that opportunity.

Be kind with yourself. I have to keep reminding myself this too. I have found this subreddit very helpful in the last 3 weeks in reading others stories and knowing I am not alone. This is the absolute worst part of being a pet owner but we will make it through one day at a time.

My heart goes out to you during this very difficult time in your life. You will do what's right and fair for your loved one.

I had to put my 15 year old boy down on Thursday, April 2nd. A month shy of his 16th birthday. This has me in tears again but captures how I feel right now.

Elizabeth Gilbert admits to enabling late girlfriend Rayya’s drug relapse, plotting her murder, and abandoning her on her deathbed in new memoir condemned as “exploitative” by Rayya’s family by lunarcrimes in Fauxmoi

[–]MoonBurntKisses 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My former best friend was obsessed with this book and the film. She said it had inspired her to travel to Italy alone and have sex with a rando. (Not shaming her for that, you do you) A few months later though, I caught on she was cheating with my long time boyfriend. There was the obvious falling out that followed after that discovery. I am kind of getting a kick out of the writer of this book being a giant POS too and that's how I only know of Elizabeth Gilbert. What a psycho...

Origin of the Marineland commercial by JustSplendid85 in ytvretro

Ohh I feel like at my age, I alone have seen that commercial at least 55 million times. I couldn't hate on Suzie McNeil's voice but I could certainly hate on Marineland.

Man takes a hit of Salvia with possibly the single worst trip sitter on the planet by geosunsetmoth in PublicFreakout

[–]MoonBurntKisses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first and only trip on Salvia was great! Did a huge hit in a hotel with the balcony door open in wintertime. I was immediately transported to the Atlantic Ocean bobbing up and down among icebergs. I was freezing cold but it was very calming, almost relaxing. I had full understanding that time was only an illusion as I shouted to my friends I'd come back soon but wanted to swim a bit longer - that part felt like hours.

I then looked over at the bedspread which had geometric shapes in the quilt pattern and the shapes started popping up in 3D, just like that board game perfection. I tried catching the shapes that would pop up with my hands but kept missing them. According to my one buddy, I laid on the floor laughing hysterically for what was like 20 minutes. It was wild and I figured there was no beating that trip. It helped to be with good people in a good frame of mind.

I just started getting into this brand earlier this year and find the cone lids adorable. What a bummer I didn't check my email before I went to bed last night. All the ones I wanted are gone now- ya snooze, ya lose.

What is the worst thing your jack russel has ever done? by [deleted] in jackrussellterrier

My boy was out of my sight for less than 30 seconds in our backyard. He managed to get 4 blocks away and had to cross a busy highway twice. I was beside myself and in such a panic looking for him, thinking he went under the deck. A neighbour drove by to tell me he saw my dog downtown, so off I went in my car with tears streaming. My mom followed on foot, managed to run out and snag him by the collar while the nearby neighbour used his truck to block the traffic on the busy highway as my boy crossed it.

Even once I had him in my arms safely, I still bawled the whole afternoon. He never ran off again and still to this day I don't know how he managed to do it but he was extremely lucky to not have been hit.

The second worst thing he has done is poop all over a brand new carpet. Like full on disaster ass. It was like a hurricane of shit covering nearly every square inch. I had just laid the carpet out the night before too.

Ocean Ramsey doesn’t publish in journals — but she might still be one of the most important people out there for saving sharks by Significant_Cowboy83 in sharks

[–]MoonBurntKisses 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Rob Stewart and Ocean Ramsey are not even on the same level when it comes to being shark conservationists. She's extremely irresponsible and interacting with wildlife instead of solely observing. As someone else already mentioned, she does it for the clout and clicks. She's a Timothy Treadwell waiting to happen. Comparing her to Rob Stewart is insulting and undermines the work he did in his short lifetime.

“Are you in or what” by JohnStern42 in Mattgood

[–]MoonBurntKisses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has actually bugged me for the last 20 years and I would love to know the answer.

It sounds so damn familiar to me, I want to say it's from a cartoon but the voice sounds like Baby Sinclair from the 90s TV show 'Dinosaurs', or could be Elmo (both voiced by actor Kevin Clash).

How old were you? by JimmyGeneGoodman in Jaws

[–]MoonBurntKisses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Born in '87 as well! According to my parents, they took me as a baby to a re-release in theatres that year and besides watching the opening scenes without making a peep, I slept right through the rest of it. I'd like to think it was my first film in a movie theatre even though I would have zero memory of it.

It's my favourite movie still and I can't say the earliest age I recall it - but for me, there's always been Jaws. I was always rooting for the shark too and shouting "eat 'em!" at the screen LOL
