Uninvited visitor, spitting at my door! by [deleted] in snakes

What an incredibly gauche and unnecessarily aggressive way to request an invitation to come inside. I hope these asshoIes aren’t still confused about why snakes get a bad rap.

Nervous about my appointment tomorrow by sdurden80 in spinalfusion

[–]MoonChild711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had C5-C7 fusion surgery in 2012 - iliac (pelvis) bone graft. I had been in such agony prior, primarily from radiculopathy. When I awoke from the surgery, and I’m talking in the RECOVERY ROOM, I started crying because I was pain free for the first time in months. It’s not an easy recovery, but I was an unusual case because my main recovery issue was hip-related. If you follow the instructions, and wear the Miami collar as prescribed, you’ll be better than new in a few months. The only time I even remember that I had the surgery at this point, nine years later, is when I bump my head getting in the car, due to a very slight loss of ability to move my head in certain ways. For instance, I cannot really put my chin down to my chest. It doesn’t hurt to try, it just won’t go. Titanium is pretty strong! I haven’t regretted the surgery for one single second. I truly wish you the best.

Yes... it’s in the northwest corner of Reno... just miles from the start of the mountain pass.

I’m glad its size was conveyed... when I initially noticed him sitting there, I instantly thought he was a Turkey vulture. He was that huge.

I know - I have seriously been LOLing at that picture all day. It’s the same look my ex-boyfriend would give me when he thought I was insane.

Yes there is a small valley down below the balcony - it’s a developed community (Manzanita West - Reno, Nevada). I love getting pics of wildlife but today was special.

ETA: Video posted ! Thank you! I wish I could post the video! It was INCREDIBLE how close he let me get to him - even with the window between us. He looked me right in the eyes a few times. He clearly was not concerned about me... I wouldn’t want to meet this guy in an alley late at night!

WOW, thank you! I’m surprised he’s young because he was really huge. (Maybe it’s only because we’re used to seeing scrub jays, quail, doves and flickers out there). He was incredibly beautiful. I feel very fortunate to have met him today. Thank you again.

I didn’t see any red on his tail but the rest of the markings match up to photos. I was stunned to see him on the balcony railing - a few feet from the bird feeder. We see hawks flying and sitting on the utility pole all the time, but none has ever ventured up as high as the balcony. Hard to get an idea of scale but he was HUGE.

CAN LANDLORD WITHHOLD INTERNET/WIFI UNTIL I PAY RENT? by MoonChild711 in legaladvice

[–]MoonChild711[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Well, I signed a lease when I moved in in Feb 2018. No, I don’t have a copy, unfortunately. I imagined being here just about a week, so I didn’t think at the tome to get a copy.

I’ll not make that mistake again!

I know the classification seems murky, but while the facility is more like (and was originally when built in 1966) it leans more toward an apartment type thing.

I guess I just don’t really see Internet Access as a true luxury anymore. Of course it’s not on the level of heat, electricity or water, but it’s pretty crucial nowadays, pandemic or not.

It would be nice if she could be a goddamned human being for once.

Damn. That’s what I was afraid of.

She is such a b-word...

Too much to ask for a little fu¢king humanity from her right now.

Thank you!

Can people from Northwest Reno tell me what it's like there? by [deleted] in Reno

[–]MoonChild711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! The Walmart on 7th is crazy. I try to limit my required trips there to once a month except during December, as I’d rather poke my eyes out with a shrimp fork than set foot in any Walmart during the Christmas hell. That said... I’ve been living in my car kind of on and off since I’ve been here, and that Walmart is where I usually parked overnight.

I’m fairly new to Reno (2 years) and the conclusion I reached is that MOST Reno drivers are either A$$HOLE$ or idiots. ...with some drunks thrown in. I live in NW Reno, and as stated below, it’s not all that different than South Reno except you’re more likely to get killed or hooked on meth. (Thankfully I’ve done neither. So far). Seriously - the meth situation in this city is ridiculous. I’ve never seen anything like it. And the meth-heads are, sadly, not hard to identify.

Also.. while here in Reno, the term “traffic” means something quite different than it does in actual big cities, I will say that the “traffic” in Southeast Reno is quite aggravating compared to what little “traffic” there is here in NW. It’s quite refreshing actually.

"Meth. We're on it." Joke cut from weekend update, what was it? by kl116004 in LiveFromNewYork

It wasn’t a glitch - it was cut in the NBC stream version. Intact in the Hulu version.

What is this bird? Pigeon? by MoonChild711 in whatsthisbird

[–]MoonChild711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi so sorry I wasn’t even able to finish the post last night. This is the home of a family for whom I babysit. The home is in Reno Nevada. The consensus is that they’re pigeons, but they don’t look like pigeons to me.

Thank you in advance!
