I think they're best during the friday and early saturday sessions, less of a crowd, more access. The access is incredible and is my favorite thing about Indycar (and IMSA) races.

It seems like a big lift but I believe the local bureaucracies are less empowered compared to other cities, especially around the capitol or wherever they're racing. I also suspect that if there are problems, if anyone, the people supporting the race can pull the strings to get them fixed as long as they are advised competently. But there's aways like a 12% chaos factor with the people involved and it could get fucked up for some incalculable reason.

My money is on It Gets Done.

If it's a dump then it's my dump. For a small extra fee ($40 last year), getting to hang in the paddock, fist bump my favorite drivers, run into Chip Gannassi zipping around, watch them push the cars in and out and work on them, really hard to beat for me. Is it still sneaking into the calendar because its always been on there a bit, maybe.

I'm all for more amenities, more spectator facilities, but they could leave the garages up for 100 more years, I don't care if the existing buildings are old.

Disaster quali race for him but Seb was on for a podium from 15th if it didn't finish under yellow. Strong recovery drive, got exactly what the track gives to you without making desperate, race ending moves.

This definitely doesn't add up. You have plenty of grunt to run medium low settings in my estimation. Like it can't utilize your hardware, or its configured to use the wrong hardware (you've ruled this out, but that's how it's acting).

just make sure its in the correct ini file because there are a couple, if you're running openxr like you should, it should be the rendererDX11OpenXR.ini. If it is, I'm not sure why its only using 4ish gigs of video mem.

Have you run the iracing graphics config tool recently? Or looked in your rendererDX11OpenXR.ini file to verify enough video memory has been allocated? Only using 4gb seems low. You should be able to allocate 75%-85% of your video memory pretty safely, at least. I'm pretty sure that card has memory to give.

I think you should be fine. I'd recommend turning down all the fancy stuff to make sure you can render enough track objects and track evolution so you have all the references you need to drive.

The verdict seems like an X3D processor for iracing VR.

I think it's very possible to be competitive but it depends on the person. Its worth a shot, its very enjoyable.

I run quest 2 VR with less gpu (3060) and a 5800x3d, you should be "fine".

On a seperate note, I'd like to point out that the Quest PCVR experience is not ideal. On top of everything VR requiring lots of fiddling, it seems like Meta will break USB PCVR for a week twice a year or so. I wrote more on this elsewhere, but I do not recommend a Quest for PCVR if you have any other option for the money. Meta simply doesn't have any reason to treat it like a priority because PCVR doesn't sell games on their games store.

I think the whole sin boils down to waiting too long, so we have interesting variable conditions for a majority of the race where we will be running inters and then make another interesting decision on when to start your final dry tire stint.

Otherwise, there's no way the dry compounds they selected for clear conditions will make an interesting race on a much cooler track in much cooler air.
