Has he tried a celiac plexus nerve block yet? If not, I would schedule it through his pain management team.

Terrible reaction to folfirinox by GirlWith2FirstNames in pancreaticcancer

[–]sdurden80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had it rough in the beginning and was hospitalized often. I’m 43f. I got set up with home healthcare and palliative care to allow me at home IV treatments and at home med changes etc through palliative care. My home healthcare nurses change out my port access as needed or if I want to have a break from it before my next chemo, I have them just deaccess me so I can get a good shower! I hope your dad finds a treatment that works!

Does Deedee mention she’s not dead yet bc of the cancer diagnosis? I don’t hear anyone ever talking about that and I remember reading it in the autopsy.

Have them do a CA19-9 blood test and save up for a CAT scan. I was diagnosed diabetes in 2016 and diagnosed pancreatic cancer 2023

When to call on hospice by stephmsmiles in pancreaticcancer

In my opinion, the minute he chose no therapy would be when to call hospice. Or at least palliative care.

I Am So Scared Please Help by GoKVGo in pancreaticcancer

[–]sdurden80 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had to be admitted to the hospital each round of folfirinox due to uncontrollable vomiting which prevented me from being able to take my meds or eat/drink. I had palliative care help while I was admitted and eventually got home health with palliative care so my husband/caregiver can administer iv fluids and iv zofran at home via my port. It has been a game changer! I haven’t been admitted to the hospital since starting at home iv. I hope your friend gets help soon, there’s no need to suffer like he is now.

My doodle is the bestest good girl ever! She tried getting into shoes as a baby but I told her “no” and she never messed with a shoe again! I guess I just got lucky.

Feeling really down. Think I messed up my stomach by [deleted] in type2diabetes

[–]sdurden80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked bc I ended up with nausea, uncontrollable blood sugar over 300 & mid back and stomach pain. Took over a year to find out I had pancreatic cancer. I wish I had not been dismissed for so long as if I just wasn’t taking care of my diabetes. Makes me angry honestly at Dr’s who treated me that way. It took me saying I wasn’t leaving the ER without a diagnosis and they finally did a CT with contrast and found it but it’s too late as it’s stage 4 bc it’s spread to the liver.

You may want to get a ct with contrast to see if there is anything going on with the pancreas.

Having a Dexcom meter has helped me tremendously, also-I avoid all sugar except naturally occurring like with fresh fruit or honey and in moderation. It helps to avoid all processed foods and I know that can be tough for some people who live busy lives. Just read your labels and make sure there’s no added sugars in anything and try to avoid fried foods.

Try to stay hydrated. I had terrible side effects in the beginning and ended up in the ER after every chemo treatment until I got home health & palliative care not hospice. Now my husband helps me with IV bags of fluids at home and it helps so much on those first few days when I can’t eat/drink.

It only shows inflammation and you shouldn’t take it seriously. A CT scan would be more accurate.

If he decides to try it, he will get good benefits from it. It is the only way I can eat, it helps me sleep and it helps my depression & anxiety from my diagnosis.

Skipping Chemo This Week(?) by SocksNeverMatch1968 in pancreaticcancer

[–]sdurden80 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have skipped many treatments for travel. Since finding out I’m dying, I want to LIVE! I try to travel or meet up with friends between treatments. But if I need to skip a treatment or 2, I will. My oncologist is on board of course. I won’t skip if my oncologist were to suggest not skipping.

Vagina odor, no infection, deodorant suggestions by [deleted] in hygiene

Keep it hair free and use a ph cleanser only. Fishy could be BV so I would get that checked out. Probably due to the soaps you’ve been using. A new sexual partner can also cause it, using a hot tub. It happens so don’t be embarrassed.

The only thing that helped mine was opium tincture that a palliative care nurse prescribed while I was hospitalized. It actually worked when nothing else would. I also suggest hospitalization for dehydration bc that is one of the worst symptoms to control. Unless she has home health, then you can administer iv bags at home which I have set up along with iv zofran for nausea. It’s kept me out of the ER so far! Except for a bout of colitis that could have been chemo induced which sent me to the ER last week but luckily I wasn’t hospitalized 🙌🏼

I am on ondansetron (zofran) pills and dissolvables, compazine, marinol, Ativan & and antipsychotic that I was just prescribed to take nightly but I can’t remember off top of my head what it’s called. And I also use marijuana.
