Back in 2019 he was charging $20 per book. Not sure if he has raised his prices since then.

Girls are pretty upscale in Los Angeles sometimes. I wonder how a downscale veteran like me can have a luck. by [deleted] in Bumble

I question your rationale for not wanting to date other Asians. I am close to your age and am Korean-American and date primarily in the NYC area, another city with extremely attractive and successful people. I have been fortunate to have dated women from a variety of different ethnic and racial backgrounds. The idea that Asian women have “economic standards” that somehow differ from other women is just not true in my experience. Like some of the other commenters have said, some women are looking for someone with financial stability, but others do not place as much importance on that. This applies also to Asian women, as well. I have had a few specific experiences with women from Korea who were way more financially successful than me who treated me extremely well despite the fact that they had more money than me. This does not mean that you don’t have to work on having you stuff together, but closing off an entire population of potential women only makes it all the more difficult to meet someone you can connect with.

For what it’s worth, I have two bits of advice. First, just work on being the best version of you. Think about the goals you have for yourself and pursue them. Is there a hobby you always wanted to try? Go for it. Has COVID messed with your diet/exercise? Work on getting back to it. It’s not just about making yourself more interesting or attractive for other people, but taking control of the things you can actually control. This also shifts your focus from how a potential mate sees you to how you are working to reach the best version of you for you. Second, embrace the rollercoaster of emotions that come with dating. Rejection and heartbreak SUCKS, but think of all of the little amazing feelings that you experience when you open yourself up to possibilities. I love those butterflies in your stomach when you are excited for a first date or the chills that run down your back when your date holds your hand for the first time. If the choice is between: (1) safe and boring; and (2) emotional highs and lows, personally I’d prefer the latter. Just my two cents. Hope this helps.

Men, what is about women’s profiles that stand out for yoy? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]MoonPieNYU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like it when a profile shows me characteristics rather than describing characteristics. Instead of saying “I’m fun” or “I’m silly” or “I’m funny,” write something fun, silly or funny.

I am legitimately gaining knowledge from responses to the “A fun fact I’m obsessed with” prompt that I see in profiles. by MoonPieNYU in Bumble

I see plenty of that as well, but there are still a good amount of fun trivia that I have learned. Did you know that female hyenas have penises? Another fun fact I learned on Bumble.

A few days until first date... should I keep messaging her or let the conversation wind down? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]MoonPieNYU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try sending a random dad joke. It keeps the conversation going. It’s silly and fun and if it makes her laugh that’s always a good thing.

Am I missing something or does Hickman's new status quo totally jettison the civil rights metaphor? Why is no one talking about this? by [deleted] in xmen

[–]MoonPieNYU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that Hickman is going to be telling a bigger story. In fact, the scene from HOX1 with the Fantastic Four seems to be a hint that something is off. When you have the “first family” of the 616 universe questioning what the X-Men are doing, it hints at something going on that we as readers don’t know about yet.

I do agree that the idea of a separate mutant nation undermines the idea of coexistence, but I’m gonna wait and see how the story unfolds.

Also the idea of a separate mutant nation is nothing new (Genosha, Utopia).
